Charlotte said “now we’re even “ because cooper put her in a terrible position- if she supported him, she would also be harboring a fugitive. If she turned the dad in, cooper would’ve been mad. In her mind they are even, because charlotte put him in the position to either stay with her/support her and face the wrath of the practice or not. Not really apples and oranges, but that’s how she thinks. Basically, we’ve both made decisions that could get the other one in trouble so they’re “even”.

There is a crossover point between the two that you need to make sure not to get ahead in Private Practice. You are not near it yet, but just wanted to bring it to your attention. Since you are just getting up to 7.1 for Grey's that one is to be watched before 4.1 on Private Practice, so you have a long time before you need to worry, unless you binged PP a season at a time. I'm only mentioning this, because later on Private Practice they do mention things that would spoil Grey's episodes.
