I remember watching this episode when it first aired. I was pretty excited, because I was a fan of the Buffy and Angel shows. But I remember thinking this episode was just okay. I wasn't sure about the characters yet, I felt like there was something missing. (Of course, we found out later that they were forced to shelve the actual pilot episode and used this one as the first episode instead, which was a terribly stupid idea. But whatever, FOX network.) I did remember liking the humor, and was mildly intrigued by the premise. But it felt like we were dropped into the middle of a show that had already been on for a little while, stuff felt a bit missing. It was a fine episode but I was looking for more and was surprised the Train Job episode didn't explain more about the characters since it was supposed to be the pilot. Especially because this was a Joss Whedon show and his other pilots established better their stories and characters right off the bat. (Again, thanks a lot, FOX network.) That said, I was really glad to finally see the original pilot, and the rest of the series, which starts to gather speed and intrigue very soon. I'll be very interested to see your reactions to the upcoming episodes!

2023-09-30 23:38:56 +0000 UTCI'm glad your back to doing Firefly! Love the witty dialogue in this show, whatever thoughts people have on Joss Whedon no one can deny he's a master at writing that fast paced, humourous banter between his characters! I think the first few episodes are a bit slow going setting up the characters, the universe and the relationships, but by ep 4 or 5 most people are hooked 😊
