When I first watched this all those years ago, I knew she was covering for someone immediately when she 'confessed' to Figgins. And I knew exactly who. There's only one person Sue would willingly get fired to protect.

2024-02-21 02:32:23 +0000 UTCOh, that’s interesting (and sad) that your cousin felt/feel that way! I never thought Becky bringing the gun to school had anything to do with her having Downs. In fact I think being very scared of the future is a very real thing, for a lot of people, whether they have Downs or not. How she thought bringing a gun to school would solve that though I have no idea. But I think that’s a flaw in the writing though. Now that flaw could stem from the writers having prejudices about people with Downs idk. I think the reason they chose Becky as the one to have this storyline was so that Sue could take the fall for her. With all that being said though I understand why your cousin feels that way. I’m disabled myself and I will say that people who have something agains people who are different from them can take ANYTHING and spin it in a way to fit their narrative and having to constantly fight against that is EXHAUSTING! That being said I hope that all the good things Becky Jackson said and did on Glee stuck with people more than this one bad thing did!

2023-09-09 18:46:24 +0000 UTCThe sound design after the gun shot is brilliant, nobody talking, no music playing, and the few sounds that were there (the ticking from the metronome, the dripping water, the boiling pot etc) all seemed so loud and it just increased the tension. I feel like I could touch the anxiety in the choir room, they made it come through the screen so well!

2023-09-09 18:19:38 +0000 UTCI agree that putting it in the middle of all of silliness made sense because it does illustrate how that would happen in a real high school. What my issue was is that they didn't do anything with the storyline. They shied away from actually saying anything important or really making this an episode about a school shooting as opposed to concluding such a serious topic in such a stupid way. I feel like they did not give the correct level of respect or gravity to a topic that is such a huge deal. Something about how they shoehorned in the shooting gave me the ick it almost felt disrespectful.

2023-08-10 19:17:07 +0000 UTCI cannot remember what the promo for this episode was and all I can find is a promo for the last 5 episodes of this season. There was a bit of a break before the last 5 episodes aired so they were promoting the show coming back finishing off the season. If there was one for just this episode i can’t find it. Since I do not remember the promo I also do not remember how much warning we had when the episode aired. I’m pretty sure that there was a warning card at the beginning of this episode similar to the one shown before On My Way for the Karofsky storyline. I don’t know why those warning cards are not a part of the streaming episodes. I don’t think they ever were because I don’t remember them being there when the show as on Netflix. If I remember right this episode also had a psa about gun violence. On My Way had a psa for the Trevor Project and they had a 300% increase in volume to their call center. On a lighter note there is a really cute pic of Darren and the cat that played Lord Tubbington. I also remember their being a video of Blaine wanting Lord Tubbington to like him. It was like this whole joke. It might have been on Darren’s vine. Please tell me I am not making that up. I cannot seem to find the video. All I can find is the picture of Darren and the cat.

2023-08-10 19:00:42 +0000 UTCI feel like it was a smart decision to put the school shooting in the middle of all the silliness, because it really highlights how quickly situations like this can happen. Everything can be going great and out of nowhere, it all changes. It's not the best story line but it is an important message. Any moment could be your last so live life to the fullest.

2023-08-10 17:26:14 +0000 UTCI would agree. I would say there have been shows I've seen that handle this topic with what I would argue is better writing, but some that have handled it way worse with over-dramatic insensitive parts, so I appreciate Glee for trying to capture something different.

2023-08-10 13:21:55 +0000 UTCBasically been watching this series with you since the beginning, and I have to say that this was one of the worst episodes of the entire show, so far lol. The fact that they wrote this very serious theme in the middle of an already comically silly episode was "a choice". They could have written it with more thought behind it for sure. P.S. I love Becky

2023-08-10 02:01:34 +0000 UTCI usually skip this episode on rewatches. I appreciate the many examples (mostly in early seasons) when Glee was able to balance light-hearted comedy with handling serious topics, but this wasn't it for me. Don't enjoy the whiplash from the extreme absurdity at the beginning to the extreme intensity and realness. But the songs were good!

2023-08-10 00:51:05 +0000 UTCI watched a bit of this but it's one of the worst episodes of the show for me. The whole first part of the episode is ridiculous, even for this show. The stuff with Brittany thinking there's an astroid coming to destroy Earth but it was actually a bug at the end of a pringles tube was so silly. As was her singing to her cat. The scene of Coach Beiste declairing her feelings for Mr Schue seemed to come completely out of the blue and why wouldn't she know that Will and Emma were back together? They're like best friends. And then the stuff with Becky being behind the gun going off was just really offensive to people with Downs. I have a family member with Downs who thought Becky bringing a gun to school reinforced bad stereotypes about Downs people not being able to control their action and being potentially dangerous. She found this episode very upsetting so I feel the same way. But I want to try and be positive. So the scenes of the kids all being scared and saying goodbye to the people they love felt realistic and was moving. And I really do find the Ryder being catfished storyline interesting. I think they handle that and his emotions behind it really well. I also think Ryder's version of Your Song is brilliant and underrated. He sounds great. 👌 I'm just looking forward to the next episode. It's a good one.

2023-08-10 00:46:55 +0000 UTCThe people who watched this live (myself included) had a bit of an easier go of it since I’m pretty sure the previews for the episode made it clear what it was gonna be about. It’s already ALOT but I can’t imagine going in with no idea what’s coming 😵💫 This ep is pretty polarizing but Glee certainly had a reputation for touching on very topical issues.
