Bookbound Bunny Book 2 Teaser

Hey all, I hope you are all doing well!

So BBB 1 ended with chapter 82, and as I mentioned in the reader survey, I will be taking a 1-2 week bunny break to settle some admin and much-needed IRL stuff.

I'm just pointing it out again because I saw some mild concern that something had happened to me when there was no chapter this morning. Sorry about that!

Also, while I'm here, I guess I'll share some thoughts and info. Writing BBB was interesting, as I knew I wanted book 1 to be everything "before magic school. " Initially, I was even a little concerned that I wouldn't have enough content and would potentially have a relatively short book 1.

Still, somehow, book 1 ended up being longer than even Syl's book 1, at 183k words compared to Syl's 172k! In fact, I had even had to cut a few ideas because the book kept growing and growing, and I knew I needed to end it eventually, otherwise Lily would never get to Regarth!

Speaking of book 2, here's the official cover!

So there's a funny story with book 2's cover. I actually had it before book 1 even started! When we were going through some cover options and I got sent some rough drafts, this one was included, and I wanted to see it finished. Of course, I immediately said, "This is awesome, but no way I could use this for book 1," so we asked them to finish the cover, intending to use it for book 2 while working towards a new cover for book 1.

While I like both covers, I'm a little sad that BBB had to lose the anime aesthetic I was hoping for. I'd certainly say I was inspired by Ascendance of a Bookworm and Reincarnated as a Sword, and I wanted to have a cover that invoked "cute little girl does extremely over-the-top magic."

Unfortunately, the more "semi-real" style is preferred for publishing, and even Elaine (BTDEM), who started as a child, needed to have an adult version of herself on the cover.

Anyway... I've rambled again. Feel free to share some thoughts about book 1 as a whole. I'd be interested to see what you all think now that it's complete. I'm very excited for the next book!

Have a wonderful day.

I both agree and understand that sentiment, what i would like to add to what you said is that its a side effect of the US becoming a world power as their culture and legislation seem to have this inability to accept "childish" things, if i remember correctly it has less to do with an actual problem in their culture and more to do with the stringent and sometimes overzealous child protection laws. Most of what i have seen of them are valid, such as not letting a business take advatage of having youths working, requiring basic safety and refusing to let children work in dangerous fields such as mining or factories, where heavy machinery has no mercy. The problematic part however is that these same laws then stifle the children's explorative selves, as it is now deemed necessary to remove any form of "adulthood" from them until they are no longer considered children and thrown into the deep end with all the pirahnas.

Love the book but please reconsider the covers. Both are lacking even if I toss aside my opinions they really are lacking in the basic fundamentals and theory of art. It really is odd they clearly make some good artistic decisions but then 60% of it is riddled bad ones.

Wonder if there's validity to the anime-bad-for-publishing or if it's just the weird anime hate infecting a lot of western media companies, because I guarantee I'd skip this book with a cover like that as my sole advertisement. (It makes it look like a western fantasy book, and western fantasy hates cute with a passion unrivaled, so I skip western fantasy.)

If I had to hazard a guess I'd say maybe October? Audiobook recording only starts in June and that can take 2-3 months minimum.

Whens it out on KU? Been stalling for it to be an actual book.
