End of Book Break
Added 2025-02-10 13:15:59 +0000 UTCHi all, hope you're all doing well.
So, Syl book 3 wraps up on Friday, chapter 240, and I need to take a break.
Since I started Syl on Royal Road, I have consistently posted every week for 14 months, and while I'm heartbroken to break that streak, I need a small breather. I need to recharge my batteries. I didn't take a break between other books finishing, and I probably should have, even if they were short ones.
Regarding that, I'd like to "feel the room," so to speak. I had two ideas in mind and wanted to see how my Patreons felt about it. Vote in the poll!
Regardless of what I pick, Bookbound Bunny will continue posting, as those chapters are already written, so there's no harm done on my end.
Honestly speaking, I had hoped to have enough of a backlog with Syl to take a "silent vacation" without anyone noticing, but I never managed to build up enough buffer window to do so.
Also, I finally got a date for Syl book 2: April 7th!

I'm excited about this release and hope you are, too. (I can't wait to hear what they did for the Sylvester arc!)
It's later than I'd hoped, but the audiobook recording was delayed, and I wanted to make a synced release with the ebook. I sent book 3's manuscript ASAP, so hopefully, it will be ready in a much shorter timeframe than 1->2.
Thank you for all the support and love you've given me and my writing.
Kind regards,
Lunadea.

Rest is VERY important, so take the full month, and if, for whatever reason, you will feel so well rested that you can continue early, just return with a bunch of chapters instead of one.

2025-02-14 08:19:54 +0000 UTCI just started patreon but I would be happy to pay for a 1 month no update for you. I'm surprised I like book bound bunny as much as I do and I still need to listen to the audio book again!

2025-02-12 06:36:18 +0000 UTCTake all the time you need, go for a full month. You deserve it, and you'll write better once you're properly refreshed.

2025-02-11 20:14:12 +0000 UTCEnjoy your break~ I hope your vacation is as long as you need it to be.

2025-02-11 11:07:27 +0000 UTCI would also vote a longer break without a pause. I’d rather get syl back, running properly, than get an author who stutters as they are still not properly recharged. And don’t worry about the payment, just keep it rolling.

2025-02-11 06:55:02 +0000 UTCTake a break mate

2025-02-11 01:32:00 +0000 UTCI think a month is good, but I hope you manage to get back into it afterwards.

2025-02-10 22:01:20 +0000 UTCTake a longer break, no need to pause the billing
Blanc
2025-02-10 21:11:42 +0000 UTCYou don't have to pause billing but take the time and come back with plenty of ideas. Its amazing how exhausted our minds can get without us realizing

2025-02-10 18:25:18 +0000 UTCTake a long break dude. You can relax, read some stuff, whatever. We can entertain ourselves for a month.

2025-02-10 17:58:44 +0000 UTCObviously I'd be happy the earlier we get to read on... But much more important is that you continue to enjoy writing and writing this story too. So take the break you want even take a month break without pausing billing would be fine in my opinion if financial pressure might play a role for you... I Would be happy to support you knowing we will get Syl back after the break especially now I actually just started reading about the Bunny too^^

2025-02-10 17:41:12 +0000 UTCDo whichever feels right to you. But it sounds like you really need a longer vacation.

2025-02-10 16:37:23 +0000 UTCI wanna know how it goes on with the elves but I’ll be patient. Take your time. Pressure is the death of creativity.

2025-02-10 16:10:12 +0000 UTCHe'd said about either 1-2 week break, or a month break. 4 mini alt-POV chapters (to cover a month) would still be equivalent to a 3 week break. I also look at it as approaching from a different view, which for me can help with burnout

2025-02-10 16:01:01 +0000 UTCUp to you. I'll be here when you get back. 😁

2025-02-10 15:59:50 +0000 UTCI’d love to see what Syl gets up to sooner rather than later but I’m good with 1 month. Especially since I’ll still be getting my bunny fix. And since we’d still be getting the book bound stuff no need to pause subscriptions either.

2025-02-10 15:40:46 +0000 UTCSounds fun, though it kinda defeats the point of a break, doesn't it?

2025-02-10 15:33:10 +0000 UTCEither is fine. Whichever you prefer / is better for your mental health.

2025-02-10 15:24:40 +0000 UTCI like book bound bunny a lot better. More focus on that wouldn't a reason to pause because chapters are still being released.

2025-02-10 15:04:13 +0000 UTCSyl has quickly become one of my favorite series that i read. The level of quality and pace you are pumping out is amazing. So of course you should take breaks when you can. Burn out can sneak up fast, i have seen authors go from posting 5 chaps a week to once a month. So take care of yourself!

2025-02-10 14:59:55 +0000 UTCJust Syl. Bunny will continue as per normal.
Lunadea
2025-02-10 14:51:04 +0000 UTCDoes that mean book bound bunny or just syl will pause too?
melchi
2025-02-10 14:42:45 +0000 UTCI second that. I'd feel better if you got a paid vacation from us. I suggest taking a longer than 2 weeks break, because next two weeks will go really fast. It is always like that when you have free time after a long period. Use this time for planning. Steal, *ehem* look up some ideas from other stories. This way we would also be getting something, so it wouldn't be bad for your conscience.

2025-02-10 14:32:30 +0000 UTCSeriously, restart that poll with a third option (1 month, no pause) and watch us yell you into your well-deserved paid vacation ;)
Bosparan
2025-02-10 14:25:41 +0000 UTCUhm, you _are_ aware that we keep getting spellslinging bunnies throughout that month, do you? And even if you don't consider that, the trouble of pausing it is worse than the savings in my opinion. I haven't been shortchanged in the "chapters for my money"-ratio and I vastly prefer authors with a proper fresh mind. Quality over Quantity, so take your month, we'll be here :)
Bosparan
2025-02-10 14:24:19 +0000 UTCPausing billing doesnt work well.

2025-02-10 14:12:17 +0000 UTCWhile I'm grateful for the people who want to, it wouldn't feel great on my conscience. It's also fairer for the people who bought annual subscriptions (their expiration date gets +1 month added). Thank you <3
Lunadea
2025-02-10 14:09:15 +0000 UTCYou've been posting like a machine for ages, those of us with 9 to 5 jobs get vacation days so be a good boss and let your number 1 employee have some time off! And yeah what the others say about keeping the payments going, you've more than earned it!
Aclys
2025-02-10 14:08:59 +0000 UTCthat's why we like to support you
Abishek Kumar
2025-02-10 14:00:28 +0000 UTCTake a month but don't pause billing!
Chloe Root
2025-02-10 13:58:42 +0000 UTCTake however long you need :) No need to pause billing either
Alex
2025-02-10 13:58:41 +0000 UTCYeah I came down here to say the same I'm always in favor of authors taking breaks to take a breather and handle stuff that's been on the back burner.
Jackson crockett
2025-02-10 13:55:37 +0000 UTCI get that. It just makes me want to support you more, because you care. Enjoy a holiday.
Frank Moore
2025-02-10 13:41:50 +0000 UTCThat's why I was hoping for optional not-pausing, but apparently that's not possible.
JAndy
2025-02-10 13:40:42 +0000 UTCThank you for the concern <3, but I will say BBB is in a very very safe spot in that regard. :) If I ever start another series I'm 100% going to copy what I did with bunny.
Lunadea
2025-02-10 13:39:48 +0000 UTCThat was partly my thought as well.
JAndy
2025-02-10 13:39:21 +0000 UTCDo whichever. The book ending at this point in the plot kind of tentatively confirms that the elf thing is gonna explode the plot into a new direction. Looking forward to it! Enjoy your holiday!

2025-02-10 13:36:22 +0000 UTCPatreon it's either all or nothing sadly. While I'm grateful for the people who want to, it wouldn't feel great on my conscience. It's also fairer for the people who bought annual subscriptions (their expiration date gets +1 month added).
Lunadea
2025-02-10 13:36:13 +0000 UTCI'm fine with Paid Month since we get Bunny as well, so no harm, no foul, dunno really
Shai182
2025-02-10 13:35:21 +0000 UTCIf I could vote for a month break no pause in billing I would since I'd still be recieving chapters for bookbound bunny
Jonathan B
2025-02-10 13:30:08 +0000 UTCYeah no. You will get some people that are very vocal about stuff like this, but that is frankly a good way to lose the less vocal patrons. No one is going to begrudge an occasional break, but if you charge while they are getting nothing, those on the fence will just find another use for their money.
Moonspike
2025-02-10 13:28:50 +0000 UTCPersonnaly im here to support you as a writer. "Syl" got me here and the Bunny & Book just make it better. Take the break and dont pause the support. You have earned it!
Frank Moore
2025-02-10 13:28:25 +0000 UTCI was just about to say this exact same thing. We'll be here when you get back. I think you also shouldn't burn through your BBB backlog. Something could come up where you need it so better to save it for a rainy day.
mbncd
2025-02-10 13:27:25 +0000 UTCWill there an option, for those who want to, to opt out of the pause in billing even if you take a month long break? I'd like you to have the month if you need it, but I'm fine with a paid vacation, so to speak.
JAndy
2025-02-10 13:25:28 +0000 UTCJust take ur time and come back healthy
Clown Quest
2025-02-10 13:24:13 +0000 UTCTake the month break. But i dont think there is a reason to pause patreon. While i enjoy the constant posting i mainly use patreon to support the authors i follow. Take the break and pick back up when you feel ready. Burnout it no joke
Lazyperson321
2025-02-10 13:20:49 +0000 UTCWhat Simon said. Burn out is no joke!
Engineer4God
2025-02-10 13:20:00 +0000 UTC"I have consistently posted every week for 14 months, and while I'm heartbroken to break that streak" Just post a mini-chapter once a week 😀 Like that Demon ranting about losing, and his mates laughing at him for losing to a slime
Tom
2025-02-10 13:19:47 +0000 UTCOption 3, take a month break and don't pause billing 😁

2025-02-10 13:18:51 +0000 UTCMake your break as long as you need it. You deserve it.
