rikki's reporting in the student paper had made a lot of waves - and made her some enemies. she'd already been a thorn in the side of administration when she reported that most of the emergency phones across campus didn't work, and then railed against understaffing in the title ix office. she'd helped put together protests that snarled traffic and obstructed access to administrative buildings, and she and her friends raised enough of a stink that the university had grudgingly increased spending.
but when rikki discovered accusations against star players on both the football and basketball teams, it was the last straw. some of the athletic dept's boosters already had connections with less-than-scrupulous gentlemen, who supplied them with girls to help entice potential recruits. rikki was just the kind of girl they liked to employ, although in her case "employ" wouldn't be quite accurate
