Colossus Port [70x108]

Hey everyone!

We've been meaning to design a map like this for ages so i'm glad we finally did it. For those who haven't heard of it, this is inspired by The Colossus of Rhodes. A giant metal guardian over a busy trading port.

In most of the variations we've made a cross-section of the legs so that the body doesn't obscure the actual map. But we've included a few with the whole colossus in case you want to stage an epic fight at the top of it.

Speaking of colossal, this is the biggest map we've ever attempted. We had to make this one huge so that ships could pass in and out of the harbour and have plenty of space to battle in. After this map we're going to focus on some more compact maps for a while! :3

Collaborations! Gifts! Exciting free content! To go with this map we've got some great extras from our friends over at Loot Tavern and Limithron, please go check out their patrons as a thank you for giving away this awesome free stuff.

Limithron has provided a two-deck galley, with removable oars and sails and a collection of sea maps and other assets, as well as naval combat tokens that suit brilliantly the open ocean pack we released last month.

All patrons can get it free here.

Loot Tavern has provided four new nautically themed magic items for you to steal from pirates in the port, or to trade from mysterious merchants from across the seas.

All patrons can get it free here.

Is it possible to get a version of the winter/frozen harbor with no feet?

Orpheus Snacks

We originally wanted to do a toppled statue version but it would have taken us a lot of time and we're always pressed to move onto the next map to keep on schedule.

Cze and Peku

The massacre one made me think, it's a shame that there's not one with the statue having caused the blood/wreck.

Dinglebats

Not sure if you saw it but we did release this. :)

Cze and Peku

ah, that's a good way to do it! i have the kind of players who would DEFINITELY want to figure this out, so i always have to think about it lol

Kate

Hmm, I honestly didn't think about it that much, but i assume like a camera it'd have multiple lenses that can be focused for a stronger more precise beam of light or a weaker wider beam? Hmm...

Cze and Peku

Maybe in the future we could do that! We've updated other maps in the past, so it could happen if we ever get free time. :p

Cze and Peku

Hm, yes, that makes sense. Will you make an update where the locals have decided to restore their harbor to its old glory? ;)

AyuVince

Came here to say this, too, I saw the images on the TherosDMs reddit and needed to join the patreon.

Any chance of getting a version of this map without the feet so it can be used as a standard port?

Congratulations on doing this! Incredible, this is the biggest map you ever made! It looks fantastic!

VitAnyaNaked

this is a random question, and i'm sure it can be open for DM interpretation, but did you have any thoughts about how exactly the lens is used as both a harmless light and a kind of a laser? like, what exactly changes the way the light is focused?

Kate

The statue and the walls probably came much earlier, in a richer age. In our reality The Colossus of Rhode collapsed in an earthquake but was left in the harbour for almost a millennia. It would have seemed like this marvellous icon of a golden age left in disrepair by people unable to afford its repairs.

Cze and Peku

I love the lower part with the colossus, but I think the actual harbor part doesn't match the grandiose entrance. There are only a few piers and they seem to be in disrepair. I'm not saying the map is bad, but it seems like a weird contrast, given how impressive the statue and walls are.

AyuVince

There will be!

Daniel Gonzales

Well now I have to find a place to use this one.... it's too good not to use.

Kackman

Is there a foundry module for this?

Taylor

the best kind of campaign!

Limithron

Amazing! Perfect for my ancient Greece themed dnd campaign

Beautiful! this is perfect timing for use in my Odyssey of the Dragonlords campaign!

Many thanks from me and my upcoming sailing campaign!

Kit Ortega

Oh man this is good. Almost got the Eberron flavor for Stormreach, but need the big statue to have a light going up into the sky.

Joseph Meehan

This is so beautiful. Art!

Phill

Incredible as always!

Oh and a reminder that the map remixing contest finishes in 5 days, so remember to post your submission!
