REALLY interesting preamble. I enjoy your preambles as much if not more than the interviews. You make important but distinct points, in my mind: 1) If you talk to rational grounded, open-minded people in a respectful way about your different perspective they will be open to seeing things from your point of view, even if they donβt agree. 2) There are people in the world who need their beliefs, like religious people, or anti-vaxxers. Or, maybe, some materialists. No amount of proof, or logic, however clearly it is presented, will change their minds. They will discount the proof and logic. Beliefs arenβt about logic or proof. 3) Is it worth behaving in an uncharacteristic way in order to prove a point? Can the ends justify the means? Aldous Huxley thinks not: βThe end cannot justify the means, for the simple and obvious reason that the means employed determine the nature of the ends produced.' I think to answer this question one has to take 1) and 2) into account. But when it comes to preserving someone/something a person loves, then this, perhaps, becomes a question about self-preservation, by extension. And people can go to great lengths for that.

I actually thought about him when in previous episodes I heard the name Graham Hancock mentioned. Hancock is a total fraudster and his involvement in the psychedelic movement gives me great concern. I've seen him on several YouTube videos about DMTx as well. Not sure how he got involved, but it should concern anyone who values science and evidence based research. I should add that he has had at least one, if not more, videos about Hancock and his nonsense Here is Professor Dave's video about Graham Hancock. I honestly have no idea why this charlatan is involved in psychedelics and it worrries me when I start seeing people of his ilk popping up in the space and being referenced by people involved in research.
