Minotaur Labyrinth Map [26x50]

Your party finds itself astride a barren cliff, buffeted by the harsh desert winds. Soon the great sun will set and what was once burning desert will quickly become frigid and infested by manticore of the night. Though you sense great danger and foreboding ahead, though the stale air blows the stench of death, you know deep within you that the rock-cut temple is your only means of surviving the night. Frantic carvings in the steps plead you to stay away. And as you peer down at the bull head symbol you recall vivid and terrifying tales of cults that worship the demon lord Baphomet (even the sound of his name causes your Paladin to kneel and whisper his oath). Cults that wear bull masks and throw wild orgies of blood and flesh. Cults that chase lost wanderers round labyrinths of stone and sacrifice their organs to the Horned One within the Endless Maze. Cults that turn humans into bull-beasts and set them loose upon the world. Though the sun burns still, your party shivers at the thought. You step within.

Could there be a scene for this possibly?

That's probably a mistake of posting this at about 3am. I doubt we even have that PNG anymore unfortunately, as this map was made around 2 years ago.

Minotaur Token is a JPG with white background instead of PNG with transparent background. Some kind of mistake while exporting?

I decided to print and try using in-person dynamic lighting with tea light candles. Fun in concept and it kind of worked but spilled wax and a dark room made the entire gameplay silly and impossible but really fun!

I was looking for a maze from you and couldn't find one :( . I didn't realize I should have been searching 'Labyrinth'. Awesome map and just what I needed. Thanks!

This maze took my Role20 session to another level of complexity. Players had a great time using Dinamic lightning, and for the first time in the many years I've been playing D&d, chalk turned out to be the most valuable asset in a player's backpack.

From the moment I saw this map, I knew I wanted to use it with Roll20 dynamic lighting. Gonna run a one-off in a few weeks with a bunch of relatively newbie players. Should be great!

Michael Dooley

he picked off one, but the other two were smart enough to figure their way out. =P

That's awesome! Did the minotaur get them all in the end? :D

I used this on roll 20 with dynamic lighting. 3 players seriously got completely lost. its great!

We are half-way through the maze! We ended last session on them reaching the center and killing two Minotaurs. We won't have a session this week, but next week we are going to be finishing it up. The map is working out really really well. The maze itself is great, obviously, but I also appreciate the little tunnels dug out from room to room. I also like that there are a lot of scrolls, papers, and books laying around, not just treasure hoards. Given that they've been finding maps of the islands they need to get to, that was very fitting.

How'd it go? Always interesting to hear feedback.

Going to use this tonight! Wish me luck!

When printed out, I guess the labyrinth isn't so intimidating but with Roll20's dynamic lighting you can make it much more like an actual maze for your players. I'd personally get players to decide which directions to go and every square roll for a wandering monster to appear, that keeps the tension high. If you play using food/water resources that can keep it exciting too.

Cze and Peku

Sounds like it's time to take your players back to the labyrinth!

Cze and Peku

Hope you can find a use for it in your campaign.

Thanks! :D

This is insane, I'm speachless

Wow this is gorgeous. Keep up the great work!

I've found that when the goal is to solve the maze, there is a big struggle with pacing. Instead, I try to use it as a narrative tool to create atmosphere and suspense. We did an encounter once where the players were each teleported to a corner of the maze and we used turn-based combat to move within it, but they could use skill checks to figure out which direction their allies were and there were combat encounters along the way. We also use roll20's dynamic lighting which (for me) is the only way to make the maze pose an actual mechanical challenge. Curious to see what other people have done as well.

Maze map are always an interesting situation. First of all, this map is beautiful and I can't wait to use it in my game. Using a maze can be a pretty tedious process depending on how the DM presents the maze-navigating process. I am very curious to learn more about how different people handle this. I tend to lean more toward doing skill challenges rather than describing every turn and intersection to my players. Some people may prefer to jut show the whole thing at once.

This is beautiful!!!!!! I wish I had this four months ago when I made my own (very crappy) map!
