Turning styrofoam into cinnamon candy!

Hey guys, I am happy to be finally posting the first video of the year, which was actually meant to be posted over a month ago.

There were some major delays and issues which prevented that, but I am glad that it is finally done.

Let me know what you think and I hope you guys enjoy it!

Hey! I haven't planned it yet. I got super busy. Maybe next week? I will make a post about it soon (hopefully).

Nile Red

William Evans

RIGHT?! it's the only thing calms me whenever I have panic attacks

Ulquiorr Cifer

Dude I love ur narration lol it’s soothing AF

Tony Ramirez

great and if you remember from last stream my element collection is going well i made titanium dioxide and i might try to make phosporus soon. Im also a kid but i love chemistry.

William Evans

I was originally just doing them sporadically, but I think I should try and do a live stream after every post. I will likely try to have one this week or next week!

Nile Red

also amazing video!

William Evans

are there montly streams still, if you see me on next stream im v3ect0rgamees

William Evans

That's possible! I was also thinking that the powder just picked up some moisture from the air (I ended up leaving it out for a day or so before doing the reaction)

Nile Red

That is something that I have been wanting to do for a while. Maybe one day I will!

Nile Red

I totally agree. I had watched so many candy making videos though that it really didn't seem like I had to. I really felt like I could get it to work without any issue

Nile Red

I know how hindsight works and how patience works, but it seems like you could’ve practiced the candy part first without risking your precious cinnamon oil.

Max Goldstein

Because of ideas like that I am willing to pay

Holger Petersenn

I like the food crossovers. Vanilla from sawdust would be fun.

Don Cober

Is it possible the water was from the acetone nail polish remover? If it was nail polish remover and not pure acetone you probably had water in there that didn’t evaporate while turning it into a powder, since you never heated it.

Ryan Yanashima

Woke up to the email about the new video, hell yes! Put a smile on my face.

HNLabs

Ruddy brilliant, they looked the real item in the end. The cinnamon candies I grew up with were always much more gummy, like Mike N Ikes

Nice one! Thank you .

Peter Lo

As always, awesome! Thank you for sharing!!

Andres Lorente

Well, this is a nice way to start a Saturday morning!!

Jessica Johnston

It kind of looks like you got crystallization of the candy. The cornsyrup is supposed to stabilize the sugar so Idk what happened. You may consider next time to use a hotpad since you're making a very small amount of candy for that type of drop roller (the metal dyes are a great heat sync).

Months of work and a 6.500 dollar candy maker for his precious cinnamon hearts. Thats dedication!

Albert Klougart

I was a bit concerned about having a heating element open to solvent fumes, but it probably would've been fine!

Nile Red

You ought to buy yourself a food dehydrator. With it, you could have placed the chunks of polystyrene inside it while having the dehydrator inside the fume hood overnight.

Joe

Thanks Nigel!
