Methylamine
Added 2016-06-29 05:56:29 +0000 UTCHey guys, making a little methylamine today. I did this video on request, so unfortunately I dont have any ideas on what to use it for. Do you guys have any ideas?
Also, I filmed it in 60fps. I think I still prefer 4K video though.

For caffeine, I plan to follow a different route and use MeI instead. Also, whoa whoa whoa, that crystal growth on the wiki page was unbelievable...i think i have to look into this

2016-06-30 17:14:14 +0000 UTCYou could use it to make some methylammonium lead halides ( see <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylammonium_lead_halide" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylammonium_lead_halide</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylammonium_halide" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylammonium_halide</a> ) which have semiconductor properties. Maybe you can try to make a solar cell or a photo detector with it. Also, MeNH2 is used in caffeine synthesis. Also liquid MeNH2 whould have similar properties to NH3, so it would be nice to see if one can also have solvated electrons with it like in a birch reaction.

2016-06-30 12:13:23 +0000 UTCI think MeOH would react with formaldehyde present to make some side products like methyl formate, etc. By washing it with water, we will be getting some extra ammonium chloride, but I dont think it makes a huge difference. Washing it with like 10mL of water would in theory dissovle a maximum of around 3-4g more ammonium chloride.
