Weekly Update

How are you doing, my beautiful people?

I'm quite good. I tried to work over the weekend but ended up with nothing to show for it and kept relaxed instead.

Last week felt good. It felt good to feel productive again. That Huntrix pic doesn't seem like much, but there are so many details on these jackets, even if I simplified it as much as I could, it still took forever to draw :P

On Friday, I couldn't think of a subject, so I got my next page for Tracy ready instead. I followed it up with the first page of the still untitled project I talked about a few weeks back ( I call it "Terran" in my head, but that title is taken by Warhammer, I believe, and I need to find something else ). This MIGHT have been a mistake on my part, because now, this is all my brain wants to focus on.

As a quick reminder, the idea is to do an original comic where I have no script and just see where the characters want to go. I don't know how long it will last. My idea is to make really short chapters of just a few pages, where the main character stumbles into something, deals with it, and moves on. Right now, the story is about a female astronaut crashing on a planet like "Eternia" (a mix of magic, old and new technology, different kinds of humans, sentient creatures, beasts, and cultures). That's it. That's all I have to start from. It is both scary and exciting. It might be a complete failure... We'll see.

And yes, I plan to have you all involved help build this thing. I'm not sure if it's going to be votes or just taking suggestions, but it probably won't just be me coming out with new situations.

But in order to get to it, I need to clear my plate first. And right now, that means Tracy's book. It is going at a snail's pace. It was deliberate on my part, since I didn't want to disappear on you for something that will only come out in 6 months, but now I need it out of the way. So I asked her to churn out the pre-lettering of my layout so I could work full time on it.

Tracy is an amazing writer and a good friend. She also has a real job (a really cool one IMO) and a real life ( both things I don't have to deal with ) so she might need a few days before it's ready. As it is, I only have the page I'll be working on today that is pre-lettered, so, IF, whenever I'm done with this one, I have received the rest of the issue, I'll start right away on the next one. If not, I'll come up with a pinup or something.

So, that's the plan.
See you all ( hopefully ) soon!

Not bad And yes I was thinking about giving her a pet/creature-sidekick :P so we are n the same wavelength here. Although I was thinking about keeping her on the same planet for a while, visiting the different cultures all over the place... But I like your too good to be corrupted angle. I didn't think about that AT ALL, but it would fit the whole retro-pulp vibe I'm looking for. I might steel that. also the name: I was thinking maybe going with "Terran's Odissey", but "Dirty Odissey" has a ring to it,

Don't worry, I plan to take my vacations in August ^^ I just want to be sure I have delivered everything I need to before.

Or, you know, Dirt. Have a translation error make everyone call her Dirty. :-) Dirty Stella (latin for Star, and a reference to Interstella 5555). Visiting Moebius style worlds in a Space Girl outfit that she always manages to slip out of... She needs a sidekick though. Something like a sentient sponge-tentacle daemon that is always trying to eat her brain. Oh yeah, she only sees it as a sentient sponge that she treats as a puppy, but behind her back it's a cthulu-esque tentacle daemon. It can't eat her brain because she's too fundamentally 'good', but when she's not looking it keeps eating the bad guys that she stumbles into, thus saving her from herself while she can move on blissfully unaware. Classic. First episode, she flies her ship into its space prison dimensional rift thingie, which causes her to crash on a planet. It tries to eat her, with appropriate tentacle porniness, but It can't. Exposure to her goodness nullifies Its powers. Hunters come after them, but they can't find It while it is near her, so it has a reason to stick around anyway (hiding snugly in her suit). Stella looks for help repairing her ship but runs into some shady types. Once she's knocked unconscious It regains its full powers but becomes trackable again. So it has to save her to keep them both safe. It puppets one of the bad guys to fix her ship and off they go to the next adventure!

I hope you allow yourself some time off without guilt-tripping yourself over it. The last updates feel like you may be pushing yourself a little too hard lately.
