I'm on record saying that I'm not crazy about Dodo. It is true that of all the women companions I've seen so far, she's easily in the bottom 3 ( Susan, Dodo and Romana 1... in no particular order). Mostly, I saw her as a step back toward the Susan type of damsel in distress character, and I'll freely admit that her physical resemblance probably influenced that particular impression quite heavily. This isn't Jackie Lane's fault in any way. I found her likable and rather cute (in a classic Passe-Partout way... yeah, I know, that reference won't make any sense for 99% of you :P ), but the writers didn't help her.
It also doesn't help that most of her run is lost media, and I had to watch reconstructions after reconstructions... not the best way to enjoy Dr Who :P
As for poor Steven, he was mostly the muscle. He got more important once Ian and Barbara left the show, but I don't think he was ever an interesting character. But that is an issue with all the male companions on the show until Jamie.
So I wasn't sure how to approach that particular piece... I was doing it with a lot of hesitation until I thought of her playfully showing her ass and having Steven confused by it. Then it became playful, then it became fun and interesting for me to do. And fun, I had, and I think I made her justice!
