Weekly Update

How are you doing my beautiful people?

I ain't bad ^^
Had a good week.

Things are a bit erratic around here at the moment. We received so much snow last week, we are still snowed in. Walking in my neighborhood is a bit on the dangerous side at the moment since every time I need to go buy something, I need to share the roads with a lot of cars. And the roads are also a lot smaller than usual. So I try to stay home as much as possible and hope that they'll get to my neighborhood and clear up the walkways sooner than later. I live in a small street of bedroom suburb next to Montreal so I'm used to be basically last in lines for these things, but even Montreal is still 2/3 under snow at the moment. It might take a while :P

Production wise, I'm happy. Even if the picking was a bit slim. I only managed to release one picture last week (It was a good one). But I did continue working. I spent Thursday and Friday working on a Vox Machina piece that I liked... But I made some serious perspectives mistake. One of my reference picture for the pose had been taken with a large angle lens in close up and I didn't realize it. If you know perspectives, you know that depending on the circumstances, they can become very wonky. And I transferred that wonkiness into the linework.

Anyways... At first, I was happy with my drawing and started to work on the colors. But the more I was working on it, the more disappointed I became. Friday night, I realized my mistakes, but I tough I could fix it in the end with some patch work (I rarely do that... But it can work). Sadly, when I opened the files Saturday morning, it was pretty clear to me that I was willfully blinding my self. It wasn't good... So I redrew the whole thing. It's a lot better now. I'm not sure when I'll have time to complete it, but I'm looking forward to it.

Funny, I usually HATE to leave something unfinished but I have 3 unfinished project in the que right now (2 pics and the car wash), and I don't feel the usual frustration. Those are simply waiting for their time. They will see the light of day as soon as I can. I just need to fulfill my obligations first.

Speaking of which...

Only one commission remains on the list. It's a bigger one, kindda of a comic page. I usually don't take those since they take so much more time, but the commissioners have been with me for years. And our sensibilities seem to align more that usual... It's always a pleasure to work on their stuff. It's the same feeling I have when I work with Tracy Scops. So when they pitched me this idea, I went for it but pushed it to the end of the list so that it would not be a bottle neck.

So that's the plan for this week.
Next week, I should be off for a small break, so I can recharge a bit.

And I also received words from Tracy, and she seems to be ready for our collab next month.

So we are in for a few weeks of slower activity on the page... But do not worry, I do plan to either showcase older pic worth your time and depending on my schedule I also have the option to complete the two pictures I mentioned earlier or redo the colors on older piece for a fresh new look. I won't forget you.

And in the end, you guys will get a new comic faster than if I was working on it by my self ^^
