Weekly Update

How are you doing beautiful people?

I made a mistake last Monday: I watched Encanto.

It’s funny and quite good ( I cried most of it… I have issues :P ) but that also meant that, ever since, I’ve had “We do not talk about Bruno, no, no, no” stuck in my head. It is catchy as fuck! Although, as a song, I think I prefer “Surface Pressure”.

I also finally saw Spider-Man and Batman this weekend. I was honestly a bit disappointed by both. Spider-man has some boring banter dialogues that are clearly adlib and don’t bring anything to the story while Batman has silences: LONG scenes that never end and the actors take long pauses between each of their lines. You could easily cut 20 min of that movie without changing anything. Not one line of dialogue. Not one iota of content. Just by shortening the silences between the lines. It is quite a feat to make something both so good and so boring at the same time. 

That said, overall I like both movies, and I’ll be happy to re-watch both of them… Especially Batman, once I got used to the rhythm, I adored what I was watching. But it took me almost half the movie to get to that point.

Didn’t help that I was watching an awful French translation ( one of the thing that was scheduled with my mother and her husband ) and that a bunch of people came out late, with flashlights on, speaking and laughing once the movie got started. Took a hell of a lot of time to get settled. And of course two of them had to get out mid movie. I was livid. Say what you will about Covid restrictions, I’m going to miss having the theatre all to myself.

About work:

I was really hoping to deliver two pics last week, but that Alien pic took a hell of a lot of time and effort and I didn’t manage to complete the second one for Friday night . Sadly, I had things with my mother scheduled this weekend so I didn't get the chance to pick it up until today. The only thing remaining is for me to render the lights so; I expect to be able to post it in a few hours.

I’ll then continue with the list. I might have to take a short break on the commissions soon. I have been offered a job opportunity that I just can’t ignore. The kind of dream job that you crossed out of your list of possibilities years ago and is suddenly offered to you on a silver-plate. Don’t mean I’ll take it. But I need see what they have to offer. And for that, I need to draw a few not-xxx pieces so I have something to show for.
