Weekly Update

What a week, what a week. I had a lot of fun this week working on those 3 pics: Mermaid, Bonkers, DC. I’m still pretty new at the painting look but I think I’m getting the hang of it. This week will be more of the same. I’ll be out of town almost every weekend this month, so I want to keep things simple.
What are you guys thinking about it? Is it worth the effort? Did you guys prefer my old style? Also, any suggestions of couplings you’d like to see me try this month using this technique.
Finally, I’m thinking about discord… I’m not a big fan of it, but I’m warming up to it and this could be a great way for us to get in tough… is it something you’d like to see me doing?

I prefer your older style way more. I always found it to be sharp and clean in all the right ways, if that makes any sense. I think you’ve put out some really great stuff recently (The Raven and Starfire picture being my favourite!) but I just feel like the new style has a much softer look to it that didn’t do it for me. As for pairings, I’d love a She-Hulk and Wonder Woman crossover. I would say to at least try the Discord idea.

The new one it's great too, and the results on the pics you've shared, in my opinion, is amazing, so i'd like to see more, but at the end i feel like the decision it's up to you, if you're having fun, then keep it comming (he he he) As for pairings, i'd love to see more Rosa Diaz and Amy Santiago!! And about the Discord channel, i think it might work. I'm not as social as other people, but i'd lie if a didn't say that from time to time i like to sing in and chat about any topic, so i think is a good idea.

It's good to learn new things and I don't know if it's intentional but the painted style at the moment looks a bit too contrasted in patches for me personally. Like the highlights and shadows are a bit forced, perhaps it's overuse of colour dodge and burn if that's a technique you're following on the course? I used to do the same thing early on when I was painting iirc. Not that I paint much anymore myself, I switched to 3D and fell down that rabbit hole. :D

2021-08-09 03:59:20 +0000 UTCI'm not on discord so that's another no vote :) As to the new style, I generally like it, but it does take away from the comic book vibe of your work, and is especially noticeable with the drawings of comic characters, like the Starfire/Raven one you just did. I'm not sure how easy it would be to switch between the two styles as I like the new one for original work, or 3D games (your Liara/Miranda drawing was really good) while sticking to the older style for characters from DC or Marvel, or 80s cartoons etc. If switching is too hard then give the new style a try for a month or two to get better at it and ask again

2021-08-09 00:10:59 +0000 UTCUse whatever style interests you and feels right for the picture. That will always produce the best results. I kinda wish discord didn't exist. It's a noisy, spammy mess most of the time, where things move so fast it's impossible to keep up. It's a massive time sink if you let it take over, and if you don't, you're out of the loop... Either way, you lose. I'd say skip it as long as you can. But if you want a fall-back in case Patreon goes tits-up, then keep things simple. Keep it to announcements, copies of Patreon post text, etc... Definitely keep user-posted content to a minimum. There are servers dedicated for sharing porn and memes. Don't make another one.

I think there's plenty of room for both and I think you should just trust your judgement which suits what piece best. Also adding my vote to Teela and Evil-Lyn. The world needs more of that sexy villainess.

As for discord, I’ve been on it for a couple years now and have found it to be pretty good, like everything else it’s just a little different but once your into it…it’s good.
