Granted my nostalgia hit for some of the franchises really made me think it was, potentially bias. The power of character/franchise connections with consumers, yikes! This is why they do it and why they should keep it up.

You're absolutely correct, I've only ever seen the gore factor ones. That's clearly what they wanted to go for. Thanks for the recommendations, obviously I've seen none of them.

This varies HEAVILY depending on genre of horror and director. If you want horror with a great story that'll stick with you watch something like Midsommar or Hereditary from Ari Aster
