SZ Comic Rendering Process

OH boy, so much explanation for just 2 steps of info. (Note: I'm not sure if I spelled ambience/ambiance wrong here or not so please bear with me)

This is what I call the "Final Render" step which I have been told to simplify and ignore many times yet I insist on doing it because I think it looks good! Huhu

Step 0- Here I have the finished assets, or assets that are re-used from previous chapters. Still, while the shading is in place it doesn't always convey the mood I want.

Step 1 - With a gradient or fat soft brush I generally blob on a darker shade of the surrounding (in this case Blue) and set this to multiply. I erase points of interest like the cheekbones and the eye area  (also abs since this make them look very shiny). Still, this often makes the chars seem very dark and blend in with the BG so I go to step #2

Step 2 - Take any FAT thick brush and blob around the characters with a light ambiance color (light blue). Blur the living heck out of it and softly erase until a faint glow is seen around the chars.  With a thick brush add in shiny dust particles and add rim light around the characters and FIN!

As you can see it is fairly non precise but I find it makes a WORLD of difference in the final images and helps convey the mood to the audience better.
