A peek at what's been going on behind the scenes - there's a lot of it! (If Patreon is behaving, you should see multiple images in this post.)

- Nico and Zib character designs in progress. Usually we start with Tai's exploratory drawings, then whittle things down from there, along with some of my notes (Zib's eyebrow mechanics needed some explaining). From that point, Tai does some refining, pose references and mouth shape references for animators to use. Ultimately each character will have a full turnaround too.

- Frog and Newt (the amazing design team with the accidentally thematic name) are developing multiple scene locations, working in both 2D and 3D. Pictured are various speakeasy design elements and references.

Choreographing an action scene in a complex environment is tricky enough as one person drawing a comic. When you have a team of writers, board artists, animators, background artists, designers and a director - all of whom need to know exactly what happens where and in relation to what scene elements - it presents a whole new level of complication. The 3d sets have been absolutely vital for team communication on these grounds.

Storyboarding has begun, starting first with thumbnails to very roughly stage out each act of the film. You can see some work from Fable and Ludo here, and some of my visual notes. Artists Ashley Green and Kelly Turnbull are also presently working on boards.

Dwupdate
I've been doing lots of script revising and refining so that everything is as clear as possible for the board artists. I hired Dwight on as an editor. He had some strong feelings about Act 3 (video).
