Board Notes - Character Acting

(You should see a couple of images on this post)

One of the far less pretty parts of the animation process. Before any animation actually happens, the storyboards have to be solidly fleshed out, and before they're solidly fleshed out....they look like hot garbage. (It's important hot garbage, though!)

For this part of the story, Fable was drawing some very rough boards to establish what the characters are doing, what the camera angles are, where one scene cuts to another (on the left) and I was sending back my notes (on the right) to suggest changes and to detail out the character acting.

The boards go through a number of iterations like this (integrating a rough cut of the voice acting so that the sound and visuals work together) until we arrive at something we like. From there, it's cleaned up into an animatic that guides the animation, background art and sound design teams on what they need to do.

Up next, I'll share some of the character design work!

Amazing work, I did a bit of animation work in college, and this is SO much better than anything I saw there! <3
