Lackadaisy Animation Visual Development

Hey all,

There's been a lot going on behind the scenes here. The consolidated version: there's an animated short film currently in production!  This is a first look at some of what's underway. Over the course of development, I'll be sharing more previews and exclusive looks at the nuts and bolts with Patrons. I hope you'll enjoy watching it come together!
--------------------------------------------------

The longer version:

As the 20s have dawned on us yet again, it's time to do something heady and excessive (and ultimately self-destructive?  hehe... >_>;)!

So, I've been working with a team of artists to make a film! Fable Siegel (@Fablepaint), a fabulous artist and creator with substantial industry experience in animation, is on board as the director.  We've been busy with the project logistics, with script-writing, storyboarding, character designing, developing a musical score, recording voice actors and piecing together an animatic.

The animatic will be featured in an upcoming Kickstarter (slated for mid-March) to convey our intentions for the project and to try to secure funding for the full production. Ultimately, our aim is to make a 15 minute short film that introduces the premise, the characters, their little dysfunctional underworld, and the overall spirit of the story.  The film will be for sharing with everyone and - who knows - it may also make the case for the title to be picked up for further studio development. (It's impossible to predict what may or may not happen with that last part, though.)

For the Kickstarter, we're teaming up with Iron Circus Comics (@ironspike) and putting together an art book for a backer reward. (The book will be a collection of mini-comics more than anything, really, plus tutorials and art and some 1920s history.)
-----------------------

Some other things of note:

- The Freckle art in the vis-dev image above is not final. Tai Marie (@corvidmonster) has been working on the character designs, and as with the environment art pictured here, there's a lot of back and forth involved in pinning down an animation-ready incarnation of each character that remains true to their original comic-borne essence (Eau de Freckle).
I'll be sharing some of those development drawings with you in the coming days!

- I am still working on the comic! I'm am not putting it aside to do this, just to be clear. While I wrote the script with Fable and I may contribute an art asset here and there, my role in this project is more supervisory at this point - to make sure it all looks, feels and acts like Lackadaisy. The directors, background artists, animators, board artists, actors, musicians and everyone else will be the real talents behind this.

- I will schedule a Discord Q&A session soon so that, if you're interested, we can chat some more about this!

That is fantastic news! Your story deserves more love, and I will definitely support the Kickstarter and share the news with everyone I can. ^^

It's not that one specifically, but I know which bridge you're talking about! It's actually a slightly fictionalized bridge over the Mississippi, between Missouri and Illinois, just a bit downstream from St. Louis. It's designed to look like any given steel truss railroad bridge - this sort were common at the time, and of course, a lot of them are still around.

I've craved this since first reading the comic!!!!!! :D Will be watching and supporting all the way! Just remember to take care of yourself plsss! X3

This is really close to the top of the list of things I didn't know I needed in my life until I saw it.

Is... is that the old bridge over the Meramec out by Times Beach? That parallels I-44 on the way out to Eureka? It sure looks like it.

Cannot wait!!

Exciting! Look forward to this.
