Tripod Update

Little update on the injured feral cat who came for the holidays and needed a leg amputation. He seems to have acquired the name Dwight in the meantime. Heh. I guess the marking on his head made me think of that high-domed, parted-down-the-middle hairdo.

His surgical scar has been healing up well, he eats with gusto, and he jumps up and down from his window perch with relative ease. He's only *just* started to come out to socialize a bit, though. He was still darting back into the bathroom for the cover of the claw-foot tub each time he caught a glimpse of me, but starting a few nights ago he finally decided to stay out in the open (the foyer/laundry room area is gated off so he has more room to move about outside the bathroom) in my presence. He even let me sidle up to him, so I took advantage of the opportunity to snap some photos that weren't shadowy under-the-tub shots.

This may not look like much, and he has a lot of adjusting yet to do, but this was some encouraging progress. Feral cats tend to regard humans as predators - it takes some doing to convince them of your good intentions.

Last, I just want to note that It's because of you, my Patrons, that I'm able to work from home on the comic, and because of that, I can be around to give animals like Dwight (and Maya, and the six feral kittens, and Mama Cat, and Yellow Cat and the array of ferals I've been able to trap for spay/neuter and release) the attention they need. It's hard to fathom how I'd manage it if I was still away at the office most of the day. So, hey, thank you!
