Rei's Lost Speedo

Finished the second illustration for August!

Rei had left his swimsuit at home, but his teammate Nagisa fortunately happened to have a spare one for him to use for swim practice. It was a worn yellow speedo with a colorful and funky pattern that he had borrowed in the past. Although he wasn't a huge fan of the suit, Rei reluctantly changed and made his way to the pool.

A couple hours passed and practice had gone swimmingly, to say the least. Rei spent the time perfecting his butterfly stroke and was on his last lap of the day. He made graceful circles with his arms thrusting his body forward as his legs kicked together like a mermaid tail. Rei reached the end of the lane and grinned with confidence as he removed his swim cap and goggles. Hoisting himself up, he climbed out of the pool dripping with water. Rei stood tall and proud of a job well done, but this confidence was quickly dashed when he looked over his shoulder to find Nagisa holding a very familiar swimsuit. It was his speedo! Looking down, Rei was horrified to see pale skin where a suit should have been. Panicked at the realization of his sudden nakedness, Rei covered himself as best as he could and sprinted to the locker room to make himself decent once more, ending this once great day of practice.

The next day, Rei came to find out through Nagisa that all of the motion from that day must have worn out the old drawstring on the borrowed suit, causing it to break just as Rei made his final lap in the pool and allowing the speedo to slip right off his body. From that day forward, Rei vowed he would check, double check, and then triple check that he he did not forget his swimsuit so this never happens again.

I don't consider myself the best writer, but hopefully everyone enjoys the little stories I whip up to go with the artwork! I really love how this illustration turned out, and it helped me realize I can draw anime characters pretty decently which will definitely be kept in mind for future illustrations! ;)
