SHINY LAD

Some screencaps of me messing around with latex art!! Decided to fuck with some 3D to see if I can save myself time and pain by simply rendering the latex out. I think I'm beginning to like where this is going!!

Also WOW the details on that suit are amazing!! The way everything drips over it, and how its all so consistently lit! No part of it looks flat, I love it so much

Julian

Ooooh that part about it brining it forwards is good to know. Thanks again for the insight!!

Whewwwt texturing stuff can be difficult. I struggle with that a lot! There are a lot of things to consider when texturing things: When you add texture you bring it forwards and into view, and sometimes that's not what you want because it can steal focus from your subject - at the same time it needs to be pleasing and not too "empty". Thinking about it, I'd say that it's probably best to approach it from an abstract "what looks good and supports my composition" viewpoint first, and then you use whatever material it is (in conjunction with your scene's lighting) as an "excuse" to support your design.

Thanks for sharing! And yeah wow getting help for those latex highlights really helped! I especially love how you handle the bounce light in your works! If you have the time for another question, I was wondering how do you texture your subjects? Like when painting the walls or the ground and stuff. I feel like I just need more practice with lighting and form, but some surfaces still end up looking "mushy"

That really depends on the piece! I'm working on becoming faster with my paintings and that includes not being too bothered with the sketch - because often the way I see and handle shapes change quite drastically as the piece moves into colour and value I just updated the picture with the next step, and in it I'm still quite working quite low resolution while filling in all the major things. It helps me zoom out! Then I upscale and work over the painting quickly adding deets, making fixes and improving the markmaking

This is looking so good so far! If you don't mind sharing, how long does it usually take you to go from sketching to a more "refined" sketch? I feel like I take forever with my sketches before I start laying in color or greyscale stuff lol
