Fun Fact: Yuki Ishikawa (Outside Hitter) and Yuji Nishida (Opposite Hitter), the top two players of Japan's national team, have both acknowledged the impact of Haikyu. Haikyu actually devoted one special chapter to Yuki Ishikawa in celebration of a volleyball event. Yuji Nishida has said that he couldn't put down the manga once he started it. There was also a NHK documentary in 2016 about the impact of the Haikyu manga. The first volume was released in 2012, and the stats showed a 60% uptick in high school boys volleyball sign ups. Volleyball currently enjoys the 3rd spot in popularity in sports in Japan, after Baseball and soccer.

BTW, I’ve read the entire manga already. The manga is already finished. Depending on how they want to split the story, Haikyuu could 2 - 4 more season. But most likely, 2 more (5 & 6)

Back in middle school - our school was pretty small - , we were asked by the school to create a volleyball team. Though I barely know the rules in volleyball, I was tasked to be the captain and I recruited guys that were basketball enthusiasts. We don’t have libero, we’re less than 10 players and like HInata’s team, we’ve also lost the first round. *we don’t have volleyball player height. After that moment, I’ve realised how Volleyball is such an exciting sport. Then I found this anime. In this anime, it dissected the game play for me so good. And boy it is so complicated like other sports.

In the Philippines, I believe volleyball is second best to basketball. University games are televised and people are very passionate about it.

x) I've generally been lurking since the YouTube Algorithm looped me to one of your earlier HQ react videos and I gotta say it's been a joy to follow your reactions AND your insight into volleyball! I did a team sport in college, and I #feel ya'll when it comes to watching the show then feeling the giddy, utter joy and love for the game, the friends and the personal growth made along the way that makes this show INCREDIBLY relatable. It's not just well choreographed action sequences and visual metaphors--there's so much that feels true to life when it comes to developing a skill and a team culture, and there is--literally--a player character for everyone to resonate with. I cannot wait to see your reactions to S3 :D!

Here in the UK Volleyball is considered a minor sport and I had never played it before I watched the show. I ended up going to to a local volleyball club in the area and although I was terrible to begin with it's been a fun experience.

SO excited for season 3! I definitely get what you mean about Ushijima, I thought the same when watching! I think he more so has a lack of social skills and it makes him seem extremely cocky and to an extent he is but I don't' think he intentionally tries to be rude. I feel like this episode makes him seem meaner than he really is. Love yall's reactions!

Fun fact: when I initially finished watching this season at about 1am or so, I could not contain my excitement and binged the entirety of season 3 until the morning 😆 I never really played a game of volleyball though I recall just the fundamentals I learned one day in gym class as we had a substitute teacher in middle school that had us practice how to pass the ball with our forearms back and forth. I kinda enjoyed it right off the bat. Though I'm not into sports, I could see myself playing volleyball casually. Whenever it may be, I look forward to the next season to start!

Season 3 Hype!! The great white eagle vs the murder of crows. I can't wait to see your faces this whole upcoming season. The other players of Shiratorizawa are characters on their own. I can't wait to see your reaction to them. I'm so excited I'm gonna go run! On a side note: Kelc getting emotional about what volleyball means to her. As a former libero myself, I understand. My non volleyball friends wanting to learn how to receive made me emotional back then too.
