episode 27 to me is the episode where we see hoenhime's train of thought and his turmoil between helping or not helping his sons and the people he loves

Episode 27 is a mad set of metaphors, and is a real trip.
Pinako Rockbell is a badass woman who warms my heart. With scotch.
When Truth said to Ed "You're not even trying to get your body back" he meant that Ed totally could have if he wanted to. Ed had all the energy of the philosopher's stone at his fingertips, and was already transmuting himself, so he absolutely could have gotten his arm and leg back. But he chose not to.

My take away:
1) My mustache and my soul!
2) if Ka's glasses ever sheen over. Don't trust her!
3) Call Bohique! Ka is starting on string theory!

Worked for me as well. Also, you are not alone when it came to episode 27 being a nuclear fall out when it came to my brain trying to think of what that episode was and meant to the series as a whole.

After watching this episode our brains feel fried. Meanwhile, in retrospect, I ask how you think Ed felt after learning the "truth" about transmutation and how all the information of the world was forced into his mind and we only dealt with a tiny fraction of info in comparison.
It makes my brain "tremble." Lol

Once you learn Hohenheim’s backstory, I highly recommend rewatching episode 27. Knowing about his history makes it hit a little bit harder and helps everything fall into place. I normally hate recap episodes and usually skip them on rewatches. I have never skipped this episode.

This episode leaves everyone with a lot of questions, which is why so many advocate for skipping it. It definitely makes a lot more sense after seeing the rest of the show, but I always vote for watching it, as it gives you some more clues to work with, even if they don't make sense yet. Enjoy processing, and know that all will be revealed in time.
The only important thing that you might have missed is that there is only one soul left in Bradley's stone, which is why he ages, unlike the rest of the homunculi, and he did not have the inhuman feeling that gluttony did. As he said to Envy in episode 24, "Tell me homonculus, how many people are inside you?" With Wrath he only sensed the single soul. (you may have caught it, but I wanted to make sure.)

I think its fine to say you do know Pinako. They have used her name before.--the granny with Winry. She smokes the same pipe.

About Ed “praying” when he claps his hands for a transmutation, it’s ironic because in episode 3 he said he didn’t believe in God or religion, just a little call back for it!
