This is one of my absolute favorite episodes, and great on the rewatch as you understand the playwright's reactions and side glances from the start. Like how he looks at the empty chair while eating the carbonara, or flinches when Violet mentions Olive's "waiting father". Violet has also grown so much, showing her genuine heartwarming empathy while writing and while trying to get him to open up. So many things lead up to this episode. Every conversation she's had so far that has brought Violet slowly out of her detached nature, and built up her life as an individual. But Claudia was right, her getting in touch with her feelings has finally made her able to understand just how badly she is hurting. It's hard to watch, but so worthwhile.
