Before we decide what series to put on a poll to replace Violet Evergarden, we were wondering if you all would prefer a longer (multi season/long running) or shorter (1 cour) series. Let us know with maybe 1 or two suggestions for the poll!

Comments

I know I’m late but I just joined and I’d love to see you react to Ancient Magus Bride. It has an amazingly beautiful world and has a good story attached to it. Also going along with a more mystery/theorizing series I’d recommend Death Parade. It sounds morbid and at times can be but I feel it’s a great show that doesn’t get a lot of praise at least not in my circles. They are both 1 season shows so they can be completed quickly and moved on to the next shows.

Bit of a rouge suggestion and not sure many would agree but for a shorter series i'd go for ID: Invaded.

Angus Christopher

I’d prefer shorter I vote for Erased anime

I would definitely prefer a shorter show for now, since attack on Titan and Haikyuu are on the longer side and will take a while, so I would rather have you watch a short but amazing series! These would be my picks: Anohana (or the flower we saw that day), Ouran High School Host Club, Angel Beats, DN Angel, Kami Nomi Zo Shiru Sekai, Kill La Kill (don’t know how you feel about anime with fanservice though lol), Yuri on Ice, Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii (for some adult romance), BEASTARS, Erased (the manga is leagues better than the anime but I still enjoyed the anime nevertheless) and Nagi no Asukara 🥰❤️

I've suggested it on discord, I think Food Wars would be great. It's on the "longer" side of the conversation since it has 5 seasons, but it's so worth it; the comedy is fantastic, and I find the story amazing, it's one of my favorite animes. There's the general "problem" when recommending someone Food Wars, and it's the "ecchi" content, but I don't find it that big of an issue, since you get used to it after the first couple episodes, plus it's not that important to the show, they just use it to exaggerate the "foodgasm" people have when tasting good food. Another "long" anime I'd recommend is Re:Zero, it's a fantasy/drama/action isekai (transported to another world) anime, it also covers a lot of comedy, so it's pretty fun. It currently has 1 full season, a complete part 1 of the second season, and currently airing the part 2 of it. As for the shorter animes (1 season or 2) I recommend Hyouka [Mystery/Drama anime, think Sherlock Holmes mystery solving skills, but not murder mysteries or anything like that & has 1 season and an OVA]; Kaguya-Sama: Love is War [RomCom, 2 seasons and third one coming out this year] & Assassination Classroom [Action/Comedy/School, has two 25 ep seasons]. 𝐓𝐋;𝐃𝐑 𝟏. Food Wars [Food/Comedy/Slight Ecchi - Has 5 seasons] 𝟐. Hyouka [Mystery/Drama - Has 1 Season & an OVA] 𝟑. Assassination Classroom [Action/Comedy/School - Has 2 seasons (25 eps each)] 𝟒. Re:Zero [Fantasy/Drama/Action - 1 full season, a part 1 of Season 2 and currently airing part 2] 𝟓. Kaguya-sama: Love is War [RomCom - Has 2 seasons & a third one coming out this year]

My vote would be for another short show. Mainly because I think it's good to keep a balance between long and short shows. Replacing like with like. Especially if you'd like to put it on YouTube eventually. I figure that the more short run series you have, the broader your "portfolio" essentially is, and the more likely your channel is to catch someone's feed on YouTube. There have been plenty of great suggestions already, but here are a few more short ones: Rent-a-Girlfriend - Short, character driven anime. It's hard to pin down other than to say "people are complicated". I guess it's a rom-com, but it's about self respect just as much as it's about finding someone to love you. Tanya the Evil - Short, action series set in an alternate universe World War 1. It's about someone trying to get ahead as a soldier by any means necessary. Bit bloody but not excessively, though it doesn't shy away from the realities of a battlefield. Sort of a weird schadenfreude / dark comedy with an intelligent OP protagonist and a very OP antagonist. Ascendance of a Bookworm - Short medieval fantasy about a little girl desperately trying to satisfy her love of books. It's both cute and informative, while doing a lot of subtle worldbuilding. Non-Anime Gen:LOCK - Very short. 3d animation by RoosterTeeth, the people behind Red vs Blue and RWBY. A tight action story about a future culture war, the singularity, mecha, and what it means to be human. A star-studded cast with David Tennant, Michael B Jordan, Dakota Fanning, Maisie Williams and more. For longer stuff, Re:Zero is one of the best reaction shows around. Highly highly recommend.

I think you guys should watch the fate series. start with fate zero and if you like it you can watch fate UBW. Its a really good action show and has really good art.

I tend to veer a bit verbose when explaining my reasoning behind things, so I'm going to apologize in advance for the wall of text that I am sure is about to follow. If you just want the recommendations, feel free to skip to the bottom. :-) First and foremost, it doesn't really matter what you decide, there's a 99% chance I'll be here for it. Unless it's something I know I don't enjoy, I'll follow along. I only started (and then utterly demolished) Haikyuu!! because it's what you guys were watching after My Hero ended. I'm here for the thoughts, feelings, and predictions no matter what you choose. All that being said: It kinda depends on what you see your Patreon as. Is it just a place for extra content? Is that content here because it's hard to get on YouTube (copyright, content, etc...)? Is it going to be a permanent exclusive? Is this something you wanna do because it's fun and why not make a little money on the side or do you want it to be a solid source of income? (You'll have to forgive any pretentiousness, I assure you it is not intended.) If you want to grow the YouTube/Patreon, at least one "New Hotness" needs to be on YouTube. Obviously the more of those you can have, the better. People looking to get their fix find you in their recommended, enjoy your personalities and then seek out your other stuff (that's how MHA led me to you). For these shows, I'd say keep the Patreon benefits to the early access level. Your current example would be Jujutsu Kaisen when you catch up, same with Haikyuu!!. Also, MHA when it returns. One option would be to take previous seasons of shows that are about to return and have them up on Patreon and then release the new season on YouTube with delay when it comes out. An example for this would be Demon Slayer currently or Rising of the Shield Hero. Maybe watch Season 1 for Patreon and then add Season 2 when it airs into the "Hotness" rotation. As a Patron, I don't personally mind if exclusive shows are moved to YouTube after the fact, so I'd recommend migrating them over after a period if the show starts doing well, but that's just me. For the shows that are good but maybe you don't want associated with your YouTube brand or don't want to stress the editor out with how to get it up on YouTube, I would keep those as the "true" exclusives. Things like Food Wars, Konosuba, or Reincarnated as A Slime are good shows, but they can be a bit too ecchi for some so maybe you put them on Patreon instead? Food Wars is a little longer, but Konosuba and RaAS are pretty short. There are reactions to these on YouTube so it's not impossible, but maybe it would make life easier to use Patreon? I'd also LOVE for you to do one of the big 3 from start to finish (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach), but that is quite the undertaking and would require multiple drops a week from a filler filtered episode list to keep people interested in the current rotation I think. I would maybe refrain from these unless you were gonna do 3 Patreon exclusives at a time and make them Really Long, Medium, and Short to keep the revolving door of attraction going. I know Kels watches One Piece already, but she could take Ka through if she was interested in that? (Apologies if it's explained somewhere why Ka doesn't watch, but I'm 600 episodes behind currently so I don't watch that particular show on the channel yet.) xD I think that's it for my rambling. Hopefully that makes sense. As promised, the recommendations are below, not necessarily in order: VERY LONG - Only add if you plan on doing 3 exclusive shows though. 1. Naruto. My personal favorite anime for sentimental reasons (I'd never argue for it being the best though). 2. Bleach. Another show I enjoyed and still has many fans. It's coming back sometime soon for the final arc of the manga that was never adapted to anime, so it may be a good "preparation" choice. LONGER 1. Food Wars. Again, a bit ecchi for some, but it truly is one of my favorite stories in anime. Plus, great food. 5 Seasons - 86 Episodes - Complete MEDIUM 1. Re:Zero. My newest obsession. Currently wrapping up season 2. A very touching story underneath, but very intense with lots to speculate on. 2. Fire Force. This is one of the most underrated shows in my opinion. Action oriented, amazing small details in the art and animation, and a pretty intriguing story. 2 completed seasons of 48 episodes. 3. Dr. Stone. One of my favorites last year. A fun story with action thrown in for good measure about science. A really interesting take. One completed season of 24 episodes and the second season is on episode 3. 4. That Time I Was Reincarnated as A Slime. Maybe one to keep on Patreon due to ecchi as well. Season 1 of 24 episodes and the second is on episode 4. SHORT 1. One Punch Man. By the same author of Mob Psycho. Very funny commentary on anime tropes with a pretty deep character analysis underneath. 2 Completed Seasons - 24 Episodes. 2. God of High School. The coolest animation in any show I saw last year. Fun characters with great action and an intriguing story. Currently 1 Season -13 Episodes. 3. Tower of God. I might hold out on this one until there is a definite release of Season 2 as the ending of this left me unfulfilled (it is only meant to be a prologue), but I did truly enjoy the things that were set up. Currently 1 Season - 13 Episodes. 4. Rising of the Shield Hero. One of my favorite takes on isekai (being teleported to another world) with a verified Best Girl. Really good characters here. Will be big when season 2 returns. Currently 1 Season - 25 episodes. 5. Konosuba. Another ecchi one. Really funny with surprising character moments. Currently 2 Seasons and a Movie completed - 22 episodes. All that said, personal recommendation for this poll would be to keep it medium length or start a "shorter" one that is coming back soon: 1. Food Wars 2. Re:Zero 3. Rising of the Shield Hero

Matthew Lutz

I'd second Dr Stone. Neat little anime that has a 2nd season airing you could pivot to if you like it.

Short animes would be better. From my experience many drop the reaction by long running series and comes back only for the important scenes. You could add the genre rom or romcom: KAGUYA SAMA LOVE IS WAR id great

Bob Bob

If you're into anything science related, as I saw only 1 other person list it, I'd definitely recommend Dr. Stone. It's quite a fun show with a really interesting story premise that instantly hooked me. Also, like with Haikyuu!, there is a Tanaka type character who will make you laugh aswell. Season 1 is 25 episodes long and all dubbed and on Funimation I believe. Season 2 has only just started airing but is only available in Sub so far (but the dub will come soon).

The 7 Seeds on Netflix??

Haxxy

I think you would really enjoy ouran High School Host club or if you're willing to do a long series anime Fairytail is an amazing anime yes with a lot of troupes inside but what anime doesn't have tropes? What with Fairytail is it has so many twists and turns inside and the longer the arcs are the more callbacks to other arcs there are as well as future ones.... it's over 300 episodes now I believe the first Fairytail so it's a longer anime but a fantastic one (Just my opinion)

BtsOT79798

i really did enjoy 7seeds, but i guess its not for everyone xD

Karsten Hase

Your lie in april or Anonhana their both on netflix as well

Shorter....Dr. Stone

Twin Darkness

Steins Gate

Jared Dudley

Erased

Or a short wholesome and adorable one is Interview with Monster Girls. Otherwise for the most wholesome of romantic comedies I suggest 'My Love Story'

NovaVortex

If you are looking for something featuring characters that are older in age that could feel relatable (to change things up a bit from having young protags all the time...) are MMO Junkie or Re-life.

NovaVortex

I would throw in Rising of the shield hero, log horizon, or Slime (That time I got reincarnated as a Slime) as potential candidates. Log Horizon just started it's 3rd season recently so it's good for a longer running but not too long series. S1 and S2 are 25 eps each with a dub available if need be. Rising of the Shield Hero is about to start it's 2nd season soon with S1 running at 25 eps I believe. Slime is currently undergoing it's 2nd season with S1 running at 24 eps. All 3 have great world building stories to dive into and numerous characters they develop along the way. :D

Steins;Gate!!

Jafeth Díaz

1-2 season shows are good. My vote is for Steins;Gate

Aquamirage

I think quality matters more than length and I'm assuming you'd prefer a dubbed? Here's some suggestions for dubbed ones. Great short dubbed animes (at least short currently): Land of the Lustrous, Beastars, Demon slayers (this one's pretty popular too). Great long dubbed: Hunter v Hunter, Kill la kill.

Klatzy

Longish.... Black Clover, Hunter x Hunter

If it's to be a Patreon exclusive, it makes sense to be a shorter series to add more variety of content or one that is notoriously difficult to keep on YT without claims and strikes. Going by your list from 4 months ago, Made in Abyss or Your Lie in April will be good. Both have sub or dub. Season 2 of Made in Abyss was slated for July 2020, was delayed by covid, but hopefully gets released soon. I'm still a fan of you trying Tower of God. It has enough mystery and suspicion to satisfy Ka and has been called the Korean WebToons version of One Piece for the adventure to appeal to Kelc. But it might be a better strategy to have this on YT (I'll explain). Season 1 was released without warning in April 2020 and is essentially the prologue of the story with only 13 episodes. The WebToons readers say S2 is when things hype up more. Rumor has it that season 2 might so another sudden release in April since the author has recently talked about working up the S2 script. If so, your conclusion of season 1 will line you up with the release of season 2. Drawing in new YT viewers. It will require a heavy use of watermark, transparency, and being careful not to play the audio for their very catchy K-pop opening and ending.

DontStealMyFish

I will vote for a shorter one; my toss in idea would be 'BOFURI.'

Psycho-Pass or Stein’s Gate. Or maybe One Punch Man

One punch man and Vinland Saga are great choices.

Really happy to see the amount of love for Psycho-Pass, I need to throw my hat in the ring for it too great series. Also the first season (22episodes) is pretty self-contained so you can actually stop watching after the first season if you decide your channel needs some variety or you can continue on to watch the 2nd and 3rd seasons.

Deagor

Psycho-Pass is a good one.

Dead Man Talking

Definitely MADOKA MAGICA!!!

Norrin Radd

What (if any) shows do you have for the poll currently? That way we know what to ask for without giving you mass repeats hopefully.

Haxxy

I'd personally prefer longer-running anime, but mainly because there's just more time for story and character development. And you just spend more time in that world. The worst problem a shorter anime would pose is the fact it'd finish too fast!

Charles

One Punch man or Psycho Pass

Dothral_Joes

Since there are 2 slots (w/ Demon Slayer) maybe alternate between the two? Start a longer-ish cour first (4-cours max). Then when DS ends, restrict to a 1-cour season to balance it out. It's always good to have a healthy dose of fresh new content that don't go for a long dry run. (i.e. 200ep+ shonen) Otherwise, thoes kind of shows need 2-3 episodes a week to speed up the pace.

XWF Outlaw

I would say whatever is easier for you guys and I think it matters like what genre of show because there is good short animes and good long ones it just all depends on that. but I think i would like long. :)

Caleb Glushenko

Longish, maybe fire force? Or Black Clover?
