To be fair, pulling punches is just a very reasonable thing to do when practicing. No reason to punch your sparring partner until they're stupid.

2025-07-06 18:37:33 +0000 UTCHad this conversation with some trainees the other day. They were shocked that I don’t take notes in a session. Most trainees I know do it as they are scared of missing something important so want to write down everything. Then at some point experience takes over and you mentally note what you need to write down straight after the session which frees you up as a therapist to work with what’s in the room and give the person your full attention and really be present.

Also on the note of spoilers, I obviously won't be saying any.. But maan I can't wait to see his reaction to this week's episode. Hope it'll be here soon.

2025-04-22 01:51:41 +0000 UTCI'd love to see Stu see the differences between the game and the first season. There are some moments that really differ, and some moments that crossover. Joel in the first game, seemed to be a very different character. It took so long for him to open up in the game vs the show. Though it's all the little character moments between him and Ellie, that I loved the most. I'm actually quietly impressed so far with how this episode was written. The second game had a lot of these elements, but the game play, pacing, and narrative structure seemed to take me out of it. Not that it was necessarily a bad game, it just wasn't as good as the first.

2025-04-19 21:35:22 +0000 UTCI think this all depends around the circumstances of your sentence "and you find the person who killed a family member". If I was in that situation and one of my loved ones had been bitten and become infected then I would want someone to end them. If I couldnt physically do it myself (either through actual physical capacity or just due to freezing) then i would want someone else to do it. I wouldnt then try and hunt that person down (there would be no need for a start since I would know where they were). If they killed a family member who wasnt infected, well then yeah thats different.

2025-04-18 10:37:57 +0000 UTCIn addition to S2 of the Last of Us, I'd really recommend "The Pitt" on HBO. Probably the most realistic emergency dept show ever made. With your military nursing background as well as the series is chock full of psych stuff & ethical dilemmas - I think there's a lot there for you to react to.

2025-04-18 03:46:17 +0000 UTCBut Stu, this is for you, if you were in Gail’s shoes… Season: APOCALYPSE And you find the person who killed a family member you love dearly in a brutal way in the apocalypse season… would you want to make a therapy session with that person? Generally I have 4 possibilities 1) No 2) You hunt them down and kill them 3)To test yourself if you have a forgiving heart? 4) get the opportunity to benefit from the situation, have a therapy session to get revenge. And make sure you break them even more emotionally, mentally, psychologically even if that goes against your moral compass but you’re willing to risk to ruin and stain your work as a therapist all these years, you’re willing to risk your 6 years studying to become a therapist and your experience and work that came afterwards JUST to destroy them more and crush their emotions?

Maybe i am just super suspicious (I am to be honest). What if she uses her psychoTHERAPIST skills as not therapeutic and uses them in reverse? Plants some seeds inside Joel, gives him some advises on how to handle Ellie and the advises seem “innocent and harmless” but actually they’re not? What if this is a pure manipulation, so he will be more and more emotionally devastated? What if she is playing a game, or played a part by turning the Joel and Ellie relationship even more sour than it already is? Personally..Sounds like something i would do if you killed my husband or someone i loved! And i would hate the guy on HOW he killed him? As Gail said? She even said it: “i hate you for it and i can’t forgive you” What if she, is the bad guy? Using her knowledge as a therapist but in reverse?? I would do the same thing with my knowledge but slightly different, if i had a husband in a broken world and he was killed brutally.. (They are few people in this world i believe including me, that if you killed a person they love, will not kill you to get their revenge, but break you emotionally so you suffer more, you live just to exist..to suffer. Some people see that as a fate worse than death) I don’t know we will see how it will turn out. Maybe she will be the good guy at the end.. but i have that suspicion that she is not the good guy. Though… she seems like she wants to help Joel, she seems like she is trying.. she said i will help you, but how can she help if the therapist and the client have emotions in the way? Especially the emotion HATE.. but anw, we only saw one meting between them. We don’t know about their other meetings.. for now Gail is a mystery. I don’t know her background..But… i do have one of a hell suspicious mind. Something smells fishy I mean what kind of a therapist is doing therapy sessions with the person they HATE? Maybe part of her wants to tests herself if she is able to forgive? (That’s all my thoughts about her until now)
