The Last of Us Season 1 Episode 3 REACTION

Wow.

What came to me about Ellie not telling Joel about the kill in the basement, was that, teenagers do leave many things to themselves, if possible. Atleast I did. I kept secrets about both insignificant and important stuff. And sometimes I got in trouble for it. Maybe the thrill of the secret is more rewarding than telling anyone.

The green jacket gave me Joel vibes 😅

Regarding the timeline, Joel's radio starting playing '80s music the night they left the Boston QZ, which was 1 or 2 days before this episode. Joel said that Bill's radio had an automated countdown that would auto-play '80s music if it wasn't reset every few weeks. So we can surmise that Bill and Frank died at least 2 or 3 weeks before before Joel and Ellie arrived at their home.

I like Ellie’s subtle defiance when Joel tells her to repeat him. “What you say goes” may mean the same thing, but it’s not “I do what you say, when you say it.”

In case you didn't have a chance to look it up, or weren't sure what you were looking at, Annie Wershing voiced Tess in the videogame. Sadly she passed a while back from cancer. #fuckcancer

I think when you were talking about the fear of outsiders - it was the theory that areas with high human parasite loads (so viral, bacterial, fungal etc), typically in warmer areas - trust is low, vs areas like Scandinavia with much colder temps that don't support as many ways for humans to be infected, trust in "others" tends to be higher. It's an interesting theoretical explanation for (some) cultural differences. It would make sense, if every person approaching your town or village has a high possibility of carrying an infection that could infect you & your family, you may naturally be less open to strangers.

I had to watch this one over two sessions. On Sunday I naively thought “yay, the Bill and Frank episode, can’t wait to rewatch it with CtR!” I still tear up whenever you mention love and pain being two sides of the same coin. The penultimate timeline jump of this episode instantly transported me to the recent months’ spent caring for our cat’s accelerating illnesses. We discovered a mass in her chest shortly after Christmas and had two weeks where she took four med doses a day to get her healthy enough for a biopsy. So much stress waiting for those lab results only for the kidney disease to sprint almost directly from stage 2 to stage 4. We managed a couple of extra months together with daily administration of subcu fluids before she reached the point Frank did here in this episode. I was already losing it during these scenes and then there was the shot on the way to the boutique, with Frank taking in the sun and wind on his face. It hit way too close to home; spring had just arrived for Eevee’s last day and we spent part of the morning outside so that she could soak it in. I turned off the app for the rest of the day and am surprised I managed to come back to finish the video. Although it’s difficult at present, I am grateful to the Naughty Dog team for creating this thought provoking work of art.

unfortunately that version is very shallow and comical. And that is not the tone of the show. So i get why they changed it. It doesnt tell the stroy of "the last of us" this episode does.

100%. Literally the worse tactical position he could have taken.

Lenny

Bill's poor tactical decision of firing from the middle of the street instead of a previously identified high spot is the most unrealistic scene in the show. :D He would never.

agreed!

I played The Last of Us Part I since it first came out on PS3, and then again on PS4, PS5, and even on PC. It’s definitely one of my favorite games. I remember the story of Bill and Frank in the game was pretty different — it’s basically told through a couple of notes that you can totally miss if you don’t read them. And the ending is a bit different too. They did keep Bill’s personality in the show, but I really wanted to see his interactions with Ellie. In the game, those moments are the best — super sarcastic, funny… and Joel always playing the peacemaker between them 😂

Easily one of the best single episodes of any tv show ever.

hey there, nice video as always! I forgot how i thought how cute they were as a couple when i first saw it. The end was one of the changes the original game author wanted to put in the show and i believe it was a good choice he made. regarding infected animals. Initially the team thought about infected dogs and stuff during the development of the game but they gave a step back and decided to not ad them, so they could give the artistic idea of "nature fighting back humanity" Unrelated to this video by the way, do you know a anime called re:zero? i like this show a lot and the way the characters are written and how they deal with fear and trauma and how they develop as the show continues is pretty good, if you didn't watch it yet, i pretty much recomend
