2025-03-19 11:51:15 +0000 UTCStu Thank you for reacting to this song i sent you, I’m writing this with tears🙏 In Cyprus, when boys turn 18 years old and get out of high school, are NOT allowed to go to the university unless they serve the military for 2 years. It’s the law of our government unfortunately because we have been attacked in the past and for 50 years, boys are FORCED to serve and train just in case a second attack is coming. They say we have to be ready. So all of them MUST serve and then go to university or work. If a boy resists he will face violence so he will be forced to join the army. And all of us are armed, every family has at least one military weapon in their house… i am a woman, i am not forced to go to the military yet i went there by my own will when i was 24. Because guess, my father was a refugee when the invasion happened in Cyprus, it was my GRANDFATHER who saved my father’s life or i wasn’t going to be here right now.. that’s why my grandfather is my hero! I am AGAINST war, because my father told me his side of the story, he was 8 years old back then, they were shooting them from above and they barely survived, only 15-20% of the Cypriot population survived the invasion including my father’s family who witnessed everything, bombs shooting attempts of raping etc. The north part of Cyprus (37% of the island) is still in the hands of Turkey so Cyprus is divided. I am against war, but i also never back down from a fight if i have to protect my family or loved ones. Whatever happens, “right or wrong” i am ready to fight. Even if we are on the wrong side of heaven or the righteous side of hell, we are ready! Thank you for reacting on that song🙏🙏
