DBT in schools

We had a discussion in one of the live streams about being cautious with the use of some therapies in some contexts, and also being cautious in the use of a single piece of research. I made a quick video about that research here if it is of interest to anyone.

Yeah I guess. Some of the component analysis shows that not having a cognitive domain within the intervention is equally as effective (for example Jacobsons seminal study), but that’s looking at thought content (cognitions). Thinking is still a behaviour so the process of thinking is still targeted within a behavioural framework. That’s the stance DBT takes.

Personally, I think behavioral therapies are inherently flawed. I'm sure there are certain aspects of the way DBT is applied that are helpful, but by and large, the behavior itself is not the issue. The behavior is a symptom of the issue.
