Arcane S2E6 REACTION (Early access, Unedited, Ad-free)

Fixed the echo. I think.

Comments

The bandages that Vi has are like a traditional "sports-bra".. Meant to stop things from moving during combat.. The hand wrappings are the same to stop finger joints from moving too much and potentially breaking during boxing, which is something that every real life boxer does before putting on gloves

Del

Mothra really tried to stop you from seeing that heart wrenching ending.

gzilla97

One thing very few people notice that I noticed the first time when Jayce is talking to Salo Jayce’s breath is animated, but Salas is not…curious maybe he isn’t even breathing. People always get on this season like it’s bad but riot and fortiche did a lot of work telling story through its animation instead of spending time on tons of dialogue.

MJ Eid

That’s the point. Viktor is hypothesising that we will evolve to a point that we will have the ability to determine our own nature. His “glorious evolution “If we can change our own nature at will, like viktor can change his commune then evolution, at least in humanity can’t continue. It ends when we decide to end it

C_Forde

After this arc came out, it felt like 90% of the fandom had it out for Jayce's blood. I remember thinking "but... something is clearly off about this commune... and Jayce clearly knows something we don't yet" and Huck was the perfect example of that. His entire personality changed! Same with Salo who went from a combative and slimy politician out for blood to just... eerily calm. It was like they were all lobotomized.

CalicoJill

"Viktor is growing it, Jayce is annihilating it?" man, Stu lmao you caught that so early on in the ep. well, i guess you can see how after this Arc was concluded a good majority of the fans were out for Jayce's blood. your reflection at the end of this episode is precious insight ahaha

donglordthe3rd

as an aside to all that's going to happen in this episode, it always sends me when I see Cait wiping the spit towards her mouth. it's been memed to kingdom come that the community agrees she's the one who inserted that in their plan, like "trust me Vi, you need to spit on my face" 😂

donglordthe3rd

Yes, I think Vi bandaging/taping herself is probably the closest thing she can get instead of a sports bra. 😅 She looks so badass. I love her darker style.

Lu

Yes! S2E7 is one of my favourites as well. Can't wait!

Lu

I can’t wait for your next viewings! I love hearing your insight too, lots of good analysis here, even though you say you’re just taking it in I do love the valuable information you have on trauma and how you express your thoughts scene to scene. Side note, I’m so glad I’m on the Patreon to watch the full episodes along with you, the YouTube cut-aways, opacity, watermark, and shortened editing just don’t feel right, especially how you watch and go back to all the animation detail. Love it!

Jesse Mills

Yeah, I think the same thing. I think it's the first time we've ever seen Isha shed a tear, and it was as she smiled, running right at the danger, with her life flashing before her eyes (or the only bits she cared about, anyway - the parts with Jinx). And with how she looked so calm and serene when she closed her eyes and pulled the trigger. I feel like she'd accepted that she was probably going to die and didn't care as long as it made a difference. Also the fact that the hidden image in the intro was Isha's *pew* moment is just 💔 I didn't know that until this video 😭

JoJo

I think one thing people forget/ don’t realize with this is how different people who have been “healed” by viktor are from their normal selves. The writers purposely showed huck (the most cowardly person in the entire show) stand up to one of the most intimidating people in the entire show and express 0 emotion. Is he even huck anymore?

MJ Eid

Evolution is just change over time, it has no goal. Evolution will always continue because organisms will always change in response to their environment. Not because they’re working towards some kind of pinnacle, but because those that don’t change fast enough simply don’t continue.

Saj

No matter how many times I see that final scene, I sob like a baby every time. I was absolutely destroyed the first time 😭

Abbie Lloyd

About Isha's sacrifice, I think it really is just her protecting (mostly) Jinx. Before she decides on it you can see her looking around, she sees Vi wounded and surrounded by enemy soldiers, Vander looks like he is gone, it's only the beast going on an unstoppable rampage, and Jinx, the closest thing she has to family, is wounded and looking like she is about to be torn apart by the beast. That's when she decides to make the sacrifice, and the flashes of her memories we see aren't of Jinx' revolution or anything, they're of Jinx being the most important person in her life. And she absolutely seems to understand this is not something she is walking away from, with the *pew* gesture to Jinx and closing her eyes before pulling the trigger

Hleler

There is so much pain in this episode 😭 I love that it starts with an ending. The first scene is Viktor's exploded "cocoon" and the gear rolling—the same one we see at the end—making the episode itself feel like the self-replicating/self-annihilating singularity introduced later. This is such an important concept that will make sense in the end. Everything related to Vander makes me cry. From the stunning visual representation of his pain as Viktor searches for him inside the beast, to his memories in watercolor (that song is devastatingly beautiful), to the final scene with his lava tears. It's utterly heartbreaking. Singed, as always, is fascinating. His conversation with Viktor, their clashing points of view, and the parallels (some you've already noticed, others will become clearer in the next episodes)... there's so much to unpack. And then there's Jayce. He's glitching, trapped in his own mental and emotional pain, hearing "I won't fail" echoing in his head as he walks through the commune ARMED, even though we know weapons aren't allowed. The child takes him to Viktor by hand, without fear—just like everyone else in the commune. Fear is not something they seem to feel. Viktor is expecting Jayce, he actually invited him through Salo, and the very fact that Jayce can bring weapons inside already sets him apart from anyone else. It proves Viktor never expected what happened next. I love how the scene of Viktor opening his eyes to see Jayce alternates with Vander opening his eyes and seeing his daughters. Both moments speak of reunion with loved ones—but one goes terribly wrong, as Jayce does what he does for reasons we struggle to fully grasp

luana_reads

I have to disagree with you there. Evolution has a destination. Because without a destination, there is no evolution. The destination that evolution aspires to is hardly or maybe never reachable, which is why evolution will continue.

Amnesius

Isha has always been trying to throw herself right at the danger to protect Jinx (like at the prison or when Cait had the shot). She's absolutely fearless, never cries even when she's hurt, never tries to save herself if Jinx needs her help. You'd think, given her age, that she'd be the one who wants to be protected but she's the one who's the most protective of Jinx. Even though she loved Vander, I don't think she considered any other option than to wipe out the threat to Jinx, no matter what it cost Isha herself, and maybe even did it to end Vander's suffering as well. She's got such a warrior spirit. Possibly the most expressive character too even though she never said a single word in the whole show. I also like how they didn't lean into the cliché 'the cult leader is evil', angle. I felt like I should expect Viktor to be 'evil' because of his following and power over his community, but he was genuinely helping people. Not exploiting them but actually slowly killing himself to save them. And Jayce ended that peace by killing him, even if the commune was never flawless in the first place. I didn't pick up on the self-replicating and self-annihilating thing either. Really loved you pointing that out!

JoJo

Very much looking forward to the Episode 7 reaction!

Niks Mežgailis

I think the bit at the start during the fight isn't actually about the actual physical combat she's talking about the principles she just laid out. Tunnels in your eyes meaning seeing deeper than others do. Lava in your veins is the strength she spoke about, the will to do what others wont. And Shadows in your heart is deception and cunning. She's making an attempt to shape the way Caitlyn thinks, and then reenforcing it by naming them kin

Tabi

A little something I've been meaning to share about Isha is that her name in Chinese/Japanese means doctor/healer. Her song in this episode being a Chinese song kinda proves this was intentional. She's not only Jinx’s healer, but also Vander’s. The moment he sees her inside the greenhouse is the moment Viktor manages to reach Vander beyond all the Warwick pain, something that he has been struggling to do for days

luana_reads

I watched half of it but i need to go to work now 😭 I'll be back with comments during lunch break 💔 Just know i cried while brushing my teeth

luana_reads

I laughed out loud at his expression (in a commiserative way) when “I have to watch this again” hit. It was the personification of “OH NO,” and that is the correct response to the end of this episode.

Saj

I love this episode (in what feels like it might be a masochistic way) but it has the only bit of writing in the series I dislike. Evolution has no destination! That is not how it works! 😂

Saj

love the "they've got to watch this again" turning into "I'VE got to watch this again!"

Britnee Crame

Now that you've seen this episode you should react to the song that was playing at the end (more specifically the lyrics). Its just called "Isha's Song" by Eason Chan. The lyrics are in Mandarin and are from Isha's perspective.

AmbushIntheDark

Maybe in part but there are many scenes indicating that Isha believes in Jinx as a symbol of Zaun.

anadoob

Isha also knew that she had to overcharge the gun because she was in the prison and saw how when Warwick is enraged like that just the 1 in the gun doesnt even slow him down. I also cannot *imagine* Jinx wouldnt have told her "DONT GET A BUNCH OF THESE TOGETHER" when they were hanging out making bombs. I think she knew what was going to happen there, or at least knew that whatever *was* going to happen was going to be strong enough that Jinx wouldnt do it. And Jinx brought her to a fight with explosives on the walls and had a rocket launcher with her in Ep 3.

AmbushIntheDark

You asked about the birds! Those birds aren't important to the episode, but they are an easter egg for league players. The colors of the birds shown in the episode match the colors of two league of legends characters who are half-human, half-bird (Xayah and Rakan). They're a power couple and some of my favorite League of Legends characters! It was a nice reference for the fans.

Bea

This is the episode that we need group therapy to handle …. I feel that the creators caused a world wide trauma!!!! Vander , Victor Isha …. So many loss to process!!! When I first watched Vander was nice theatrical example of dementia … Jinx being stable and realising that Isha was the mains anchor for her to self reassess .. Victor on his herald peak of healer but without acknowledging the consequences… Singed as always just looking for himself … Cait seeing that Ambessa is dangerously manipulating her… And Isha sacrifice… whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !!!!! Sooooo many layers …

Carol Grein Ericson

Very random curiosity, but did you notice that Viktor is still using the blanket Jayce gave him when he woke up as his clothes? Something else I find very interesting is that Viktor didn't try to defend himself from Jayce. He's inside his followers' heads, so he knew Jayce was there, and he knew Jayce had his hammer (even though Huck tells Vi and Jinx that weapons aren't allowed in the commune). But Viktor still told his followers to bring Jayce to him. He wasn’t expecting Jayce to attack him, but he never tried to protect himself when Jayce started to prepare the hammer to shoot him.

Bea

I can't wait for the next episode. S2E7 is my favourite in the whole show

Tim

Isha definitely knew she was going to die at that moment

Frix

Isha deserves her formulation ❤️

Frix

The musical sequences in this one are why its my favorite episode! So glad you got to experience them!

HeyItsVayy

You can see the smile, the closed eyes, and the tears. She knew what she was doing. A concept of death is something you get at around 5-7.

Last Thing

It is... not even really "funny" (except in a gallows humor kind of way) that you referred to that image of Isha during the opening credits as her doing a "trigger" gesture. As... you can tell... at the end of it all, that image of Isha is *quite* triggering for a lot of people @_@ At least the ones who have seen the end of the episode. For Isha... it isn't about lofty ideals or anything like that. Jinx saved her life by putting herself in danger. For Isha... it is only reasonable for her to do the same. That's how I interpret it. Georgia Dow on YouTube did a really great video talking through it all. I am really looking forward to seeing your reaction to the next episode, hopefully before too long, with your health improving!

Michael Morris

don’t listen to the haters, these reactions/analysis are the highlights of my day

Campleb

If you're interested, there's a very interesting video from Georgia Dow (another therapist) called "Why Isha Did the Unthinkable" where she does a very through analysis of Isha's character, that make's her actions in these episode sound incredibly telling. It would be a pretty cool exercise to see you do as well, rewatching Isha's scenes throught season 2 and trying to understand her thought process during the end of this episode. https://youtu.be/bEi-eiFA3OY?si=1B2Tw1u3VR2K8H8F This is a really interesting video analysis of Isha's character that I recommend checking out when you have the chance.

louman

Great reaction! I love how you pick up things. Also at the end, i think i was the same, shocked, surprised (what even Jayce???). They really got us thinking it will be a happy end. They should have thrown Singed out to not let him in the same room with Vander...he still had that injectable thing that most likely he used... In the that place, everyone seems to be connected so the fact that Jayce wasn't stopped by anyone even if he had a weapon shows how much Viktor trusted him and wanted to show him what he did. He expected him, after all he told him "come, visit me". Cait being a "deep cut" for Ambesa i think it shows that despite her wanting to take over Piltover, she might seen Cait not necessarily as a daughter but as someone close. After all, one lost her mom and one lost her daughter so it might be something there.

Teo

did she though? a child that young doesn't have that capacity. that's a hard thing even for an adult to fully grasp. I think it's more so to show Jinx that kids can do very extreme things when push comes to shove, and it's not their fault. they were both just trying to protect the people they loved

Llama Lana

Haha, you use the same kind of tone to mockingly imitate someone as I do and my native language is german, that's so interesting

Kabidu

WOOHOO

Campleb

I think it also shows the black and white thinking kids have. If you want to save a life, you have to give it all you've got. Literally. All the ammo you can fit. All the ammo you have. I don't think that this is how it was supposed to go with Powder though. She would've lost her life. That was never her intention. Maybe that's the message here - there was nothing she could've realistically done in that situation as a kid without major negative consequences

Llama Lana

crazy episode, so much goin on even after like 5 times watching this episode it's always a shock :(

Kudo

Also, your talk at the end about the mural and jinx as a symbol. The show didn't do an amazing job at explicitly stating, but in 2x3 Jinx isn't just bombing topside she is redirecting the gray to the topside, basically letting the undercity civilians breathe air again, so she is quite literally a savior figure to them

Euphemia Isobel

The most applicable symbolism of hummingbirds here is positive change, healing, new beginnings, and happiness. Vi looks TOO good. As for the binding tape, it's probably the best option for fighting. I don't believe they have Under Armour in this world, and I wouldn't want my boobs flailing everywhere either 👀 I also don't think she really has any clothes apart from that? She spent the entire season 1 in prison uniform and a stolen jacket, and her jeans here are taped. Someone has probably thrown them away. One thing I really hate about this episode is how they downplayed Caitlyn having assaulted Vi the last time they saw each other. They immediately have them fight again and Cait even hits Vi with her gun AGAIN, and it's clearly meant to be light-hearted and even sexy. And I'm just sitting there like ??? Way to make light of abuse. What I love is how Vi clearly prioritizes Jinx and Vander. She's glad that Cait is alive, but that's about it. She feels no need to justify herself. No need to apologize or make things right. She's just happy to have her family back, and risks her life to pull Jinx back to safety and shield her

Llama Lana

Isha is Powder if everything went the way it was supposed to, all the times she uses the devices they work how they're supposed to. Just like Powder loaded 3 gemstones into the monkey bomb trying to save her family and failed, Isha loaded 3 gemstones into the gun and saved her family

Euphemia Isobel

What must be going through Jinx's head seeing that mongoose save Vander. She saw Cait as a monster, halucinating her with horns, laughing at her as she takes Vi from her, torturing her with shimmer... and even asks Vi to make her go away like when Vi would chase her monsters away. The fact she in turn saves Cait says so much about how much she's changed since season 1 and how much clearler she's seeing things. Also I'm back with more Jinx/Caitlyn parallels! Both Silco and Ambessa recognized Vi as a threat because she is so loved by both Jinx and Cait... and they were right to see her as a threat as both Jinx and Cait betray their new manipulative parental figures for Vi. I think the birds are meant to show healing. Life is now thriving in the undercity. You mentioned the height chart from season 1. It's the same one. This is the same place Vi went went she was stabbed by Sevika in season 1. But now its thriving with life and colour. I think Jinx can now truly understand why Vi didn't want her to come with them in s1e3. She can now empathize with Vi as an older sister figure to Isha. Also Isha demonstrating Ambessa's forth principle - sacrifice :/

CalicoJill

That song is Stressed Out

Llama Lana

Jinx is isha's superhero, Isha would do anything to save her. The difference between powders "death" and Isha's "death" is that powder had no idea what she was doing, but Isha... Isha knew exactly what she was doing.

Last Thing

I just realized that Vander got triggered by the quenching from the smith because some dude did it in the beginning of the scene after Silco kidnapped Vander and they arrived at the place where everything goes to shit. They then talked a bit and Silco said "I'll show you what you really are" if that rings some bells. That's in Episode 1x3.
