It also lines up with her saying “I can’t seem to die” I think she’s tried more than once

2025-02-12 19:29:00 +0000 UTCGod, I wish Viktor's situation was just a trolley problem dilemma, that would be so much simpler and pale in comparison, alas...

2025-02-12 17:00:30 +0000 UTCI think a lot is open to interpretation, my feeling for that scene was she was considering suicide and running out of breathe under water so Silco saying “have you had enough?” Was asking if she’d had enough of life, then she lets out the air she was holding in screaming and decides to live

2025-02-12 15:41:52 +0000 UTC(sorry for my english) At the beginning of the episode, after Jinx finally lets Silco go, I wonder how you guys interpret what follows. I think about it that way : jinx' "rage cry" happens because, she now hears the voice of silco, joining the already existing voices she had in her head, making it even more difficult for her than the loss already is. I'm curious about what you guys think about that passage

2025-02-12 05:38:12 +0000 UTC38:53 - a special moment for me. "Something I could fix". Jinx is reminding of her guilt towards Sevika (Sevika's loss of her arm during that ill-fated explosion). For the first time, Jinx for a moment drops her defenses and allows herself to be vulnerable with this phrase. "Something I could fix - unlike the rest of my mistakes..."

2025-02-12 05:26:20 +0000 UTCTo be fair I had a lot of thoughts about the trajectory of the season and yet every episode surprised me with turns of events I couldn’t have anticipated. I’m so curious what thoughts you might have about everything. Season two takes on a much broader scope than season one—some say to its demise, while others argue that only makes it stronger. The one objective truth is that the second season is much different from the first, and with just two episodes in there’s still much to be discovered. The emotional threads are what really make the show for me and I think occasionally they get pushed to the background for new elements and plot devices this season and so may require some extra attention to follow along with, but there are things to enjoy about the novelty of this season as well. All that to say I’m looking forward to watching as we progress through and dig into the meat of, well, whatever it may be! Thanks for another episode!!

2025-02-12 05:05:56 +0000 UTCThere was quite a lot of mistakes on the subtitles in this episode for whatever reason, Netflix is kinda bad with that.

2025-02-12 02:55:03 +0000 UTCthank you for mentioning the parallel between Jayce/Viktor and Silco/Jinx, I forgot to mention it in my comment lol and also YES to the details about Viktor's voice.
luana_reads
2025-02-11 21:08:05 +0000 UTCAs for Jayce and Viktor: Jayce’s reaction to seeing Viktor alive will never not make me cry. The sheer relief in his voice, his answer to Viktor’s “What am I?”—"You're alive." That’s all that matters. From Jayce’s POV, I don’t think it could have gone any differently. Was it the right thing to do? Ethically, morally—no. But humanly? We all would have done the same. "I never asked for this." His teary eyes, his desperate voice... truly heartbreaking. But Viktor knows what the Hexcore (he?) did to Sky. He knows he should have died there. He knows Jayce broke his promise. And then he sees the blueprints on the desk—proof that Jayce also broke his vow not to build weapons. What Viktor doesn’t know is why—that Jayce did it just for Cait, that he felt like he had no other choice after the attack. All of that, Viktor doesn’t see… and so he leaves. Because to him, this Jayce isn’t his Jayce anymore. “Our paths diverted long ago. It was affection that held us together.” Except their paths didn’t really diverge all that much. But it’s understandable that Viktor, misinterpreting the situation, believes they did. I agree with Bea on Viktor’s choice of the word affection. Whether you read it as platonic or romantic, the fact that he uses that word instead of something more explicit or intense feels perfectly in character for him. Also, after Viktor leaves, Jayce stays in the lab, and there’s that heartbreaking moment where he thinks Viktor has come back—only to realize it’s Heimerdinger and Ekko instead. And then Viktor becomes the Messiah. God, that scene never fails to give me goosebumps. He sees all this senseless suffering, and now, for the first time, he has the power to do something about it. And he does. It’s such an incredibly powerful moment. As for Sky: My interpretation is that the Hexcore—something we know is capable of thinking and communicating in its own way—is using Sky’s voice and image to reach Viktor. She becomes the personification of his guilt, the thing he’s trying to atone for by healing others.

2025-02-11 20:53:46 +0000 UTCOh this ep is hard for me to watch, i mean just the part with Jayce and Viktor, for that scene i go through 12345 emotions (that "we are so back, it is so over" chart) Anyway about the episode: A detail already mentioned is about Jinx braids, but i want to add that for me it looks like the braids are on their way to form a heart, most likely a subtle way to show that Jinx also cared for Silco like a father figure (as he cared for her like a daughter). Do you guys have a song that is not necessarily sad, but makes you cry anyway? Here, that's Sucker for me 🙂 they show how people in Zaun suffer, the chaos, but there are mostly kids, and is just breaking my heart. Sevika did Smeech a good one, if we think about "we don't give our people" he did it so, again, deserved. After Jinx leaves Last Drop we see him and his people following her (also the little girl) and he, most likely, gives the tip to Cait's squad where Jinx is. Also, i will say that the little girl tells Sevika what's going on. Ah, and we can see so far a little from what Cait's mission on the underground was: destroy the shimer fabrics & immobilize the chem-barons (that looks like Margot territory) and look after Jinx. The 2nd song we are hearing during the fight is called Get Jinxed, the official song of Jinx from League and is funny that is canon, because what can't she do? girl had time to record a song (she also listen to it in s1 if i remember right when Silco try to talk with her but she can't hear him) Jayce did with Viktor what Silco did with Jinx, tried to save a loved one from death. One used shimmer, one hexcore (i won't say just magic but artificial kind of magic, unnatural magic). Is true that Jinx was more alive than Viktor, but she was also seconds from death. Is good that you listen with headphones, because you will hear Viktor's voice better, for example when he say "affection" is sound different and a nice detail, i would say, and we will se more in the future. Jayce was making a compromise because this is what he believed is ok at that moment, he build the weapons but only for 5 people and for people who trust to use them (Caiti and her squad). Unfortunately, Cait never had a moment of peace, to properly rest and grieve and she is starting to lose it... I won't say anything about your question with "love" because i'm biased lol. As for Sky, i see it as the Hexcore playing with Viktor's grief and encourage him to do things, something like "you killed me (or "i died because of you playing around"), but you can make things right if you help the people with your new powers", because at his core, Viktor wants to help. That's why, at the end, she has her hand on Huck and is smiling at Viktor giving the vibe of "you did good, keep going". Sorry for writing a lot. I'm trying to keep it short but i'm failling. Ig that's why i usually don't leave comments.

2025-02-11 20:51:59 +0000 UTCI agree with everything you said! (Don't read past this if you don't want spoilers.) I don't think Viktor stopped caring for Jayce. My impression is that Viktor was dealing with a lot when he woke up, I agree that the "recursive impulse" was influencing him. In my mind, Viktor only learned how to control everything that was happening to him over time. So, in that moment, I don't think he was in full control, and his emotions were a little confused and dulled. (SPOILERS AHEAD) When Jayce and Salo/Viktor meet again, Jayce asks if Viktor wasn’t over him, and Viktor says he was clouded by emotions when he said goodbye to Jayce. I think that's confirmation that he never stopped caring, he was just confused and needed time to understand what he was feeling and to learn to control this "force" that was trying to take over him.

2025-02-11 20:27:51 +0000 UTCThe episode starts with a funeral, just like 2x01 did, once again paralleling Jinx and Cait. Also, yes, please—a medley of the water scenes would be awesome!I love the way Jinx’s hair wraps around Silco in the water, the way she lets go of his hand but immediately tries to catch him again... T^T not to mention the "Have you had enough?" at the end of the scene... "Vi used to say I could fix anything, before I broke everything." And then she fixes Sevika’s arm, saying this was something she could fix... It broke my heart. Just like her "It's always me," when she talks about killing Silco and ruining everything. As if my heart wasn’t already in pieces after her reaction to seeing Vi as an enforcer. I really love seeing Jinx and Sevika bonding... Also, the baby we accidentally acquired is so cute!

2025-02-11 20:20:07 +0000 UTCGreat points. I'd probably suggest people only read this reply if they've finished season 2, though, it only contains details regarding this episode. I also feel like the unpleasant recursive impulse influenced Viktor's autonomy a bit. His departure was pretty sudden, the entire interaction had that vibe where someone's trying to talk to you but you really have someplace else to be. He seemed to be guided by those footsteps he was seeing and Sky's voice. I would have thought Viktor would have at least had a blow up with Jayce over their disagreements and Jayce's perceived failings, but, Viktor didn't seem to have an interest in that. Viktor mentions the hexcore right after mentioning this charge/potential he's feeling. The mention that it's unpleasant is interesting, like a buildup which needs to be expelled. I also wonder what changed with the affection between Viktor and Jayce. Jayce still clearly has it, which'd mean something made Viktor lose it, or at least be dwarfed by some other impulse. As I don't think Jayce's actions are necessarily enough to make Viktor no longer care for him. Hopefully this wasn't too cryptic, I just want to try to only use details from this episode.

2025-02-11 20:19:03 +0000 UTCthe gas is called "The Gray". as Smeech said, it's industrial smog that was trapped underground, and it's part of what the Kiramman family is in charge of (amongst others). in the previous ep the blueprints of the mechanisms are shown when Cait unlocks what her mother left her. they are in charge of keeping it from spilling into the undercity.

2025-02-11 20:17:46 +0000 UTCthe kid's name is Isha btw, thought i'd offer that since i don't think there's any danger of spoiling anything. Vander 2.0 with the shield also has a name (Loris) and when you have subtitles on it's shown, but i'm like 80% sure it's intentional by the show that it's never spoken at all.

2025-02-11 20:12:19 +0000 UTCIt's not her spirit, the writers confirmed it! If it was her spirit we would know (but I can't say more because I don't want to spoil anything) She wasn't absorbed, she just died.

2025-02-11 20:01:29 +0000 UTCIt's a nice theory! I don't know if I agree, for reasons I can't say (because of *spoilers* lol) but it is a nice theory!

2025-02-11 19:51:55 +0000 UTCI saw a theory that Sky is the “inspiration rune” speaking to Victor and I love it !

2025-02-11 19:51:07 +0000 UTCThe mirror with this episode with Silco episode in season one its very powerful!!! Jayce got the similar dilemma of Vander, protect who he loves or does the best for the community ( destroying the hexcore) and also he was in shock when he decided to use the hexcore on Victor, so was definitely a fight moment decision. I love the grief bond between Sevika and Jinx ! Sevika using Vander values 👌🏼 The little girl, finding a saviour in Jinx as Silco was for her. Jesus Victor and Sky: Don’t forget that Sky was absorbed by Hextec so is definitely her “spirit/ consciousness “ he is seeing. He saw Sky’s notebook and also the blue prints for the guns, so Jayce broke all the promises, I think Sky showing up inspired him to do better like him inspired her.
Carol Grein Ericson
2025-02-11 19:48:25 +0000 UTCkind of agree with you on the DNR thing. tho Jayce looked shocked when Viktor dropped it on him that Sky died, which might be also partly Viktor's fault since he didn't tell anyone and was actively hiding it since we're shown he was sweeping away her remains when they caught up again.
donglordthe3rd
2025-02-11 19:38:26 +0000 UTCStu should find the video that compiled all the changes (maybe after the whole series is done so there's no accidental spoiling?). it's more of a gotcha moment where the artists gave us crumbs to let us know they did plan everything all along.

2025-02-11 19:28:51 +0000 UTCInteresting observation that the young girl is seemingly unphased by violence and death. I suspect this is supposed to imply that she has grown up surrounded by it

2025-02-11 19:18:11 +0000 UTCYeah, and when we see Viktor after the explosion, he has his clothes on. But when they arrive at the lab, he's naked. That makes me think Jayce tried everything he could and only decided to carry him to the lab when he realized Viktor was dead (we can see in one frame that Viktor's spine was broken).
Bea
2025-02-11 19:12:27 +0000 UTCyou did look surprised when the pistol was swinging in the kid's face, lol Same as the girl's since she's shown moving away from the gun's mouth when it's facing her. but then she also sees how Jinx is using it to gesture while talking, and then even point it at her own head. could she have picked up quickly that it's a mannerism even as a child?
donglordthe3rd
2025-02-11 19:01:04 +0000 UTCI think it's very interesting how Viktor says he has to leave right after he sees the blueprints for the weapons Jayce made for Caitlyn (the blue papers you talked about). Before the explosion, Viktor asked Jayce to destroy the Hexcore and to never make Hextech weapons again (he even tells Mel he promised Viktor he wouldn't make more weapons). But when Viktor wakes up, he realizes that Jayce not only didn't destroy the Hexcore but also made more weapons. So I think it must be hard for him to believe, in that moment, that Jayce really means it when he says he's going to leave the council to be in the lab with him, he already broke his promises. I don't think Jayce should have brought Viktor back (even though Viktor is my favorite character lol), and I think he should have kept his promise and destroyed the Hexcore. But I definitely understand why he did it, and I don't blame him. About the use of the word "affection": I think, in this case, it can definitely be read as love (platonic or romantic? JayVikers, rise! lol). Viktor is a very closed-off person; we don't see him talking about his feelings a lot. So "affection," for him, must mean a lot. You asked about Sky. Two of the writers were asked about her. One of them said they saw her as the way the Hexcore found to communicate with Viktor, and the other said she represents his guilt and humanity. So I guess it's open to interpretation. The only thing that seems to be a consensus is that it's not really Sky or her soul in there. Just one more thing, I think it's pretty sad how Viktor really seems to have no one but Jayce. He doesn't have friends or family, and while Sky seemed to have a crush on him, it didn’t look like he cared about that, they didn't seem very close. He died, and the only person who seemed to care was Jayce.
Bea
2025-02-11 19:00:10 +0000 UTCThe gas that the enforcers are using is less Tear Gas and more like Mustard Gas. Its only a few frames in the next episode (like the first few seconds) but it basically rots you from the inside. The fact that Jinx was able to be in it that long without a mask is 100% because her shimmer enhancement.

2025-02-11 18:42:34 +0000 UTCOn the Jayce/Viktor situation, I see it like Jayce violated a DNR. Viktor made it clear that he knew he was dying and that he wanted the Hexcore destroyed, and when he was incapacitated Jayce took it upon himself to completely disregard Viktor's wishes by saving him *with* the Hexcore. I get why he did it, but it is still pretty fucked up.
AmbushIntheDark
2025-02-11 18:42:09 +0000 UTCJayce should have destroyed the Hex Core. Viktor was terminal and didn't have long either way. But I suspect he wouldn't have been able to do it even if it wasn't about saving Viktor. That's a very good excuse though.

2025-02-11 18:34:32 +0000 UTCAgain things I like details and interpretation. Jinx's hair wraps around silco like a hug. Its likely most of the undercity is buried in the river due to how poor they are. We are reintroduced to jinx in an interesting way. she's wearing a white hood and not helping anyone at first but then the kid falls from the ceiling. and she cant ignore it. btw the kid is introduced in a similar way to powder was in season 1. Failing to jump across a large gap. but where powder was caught before she fell by vi, jinx is there to cusion the kids fall but i digress. she saves the kid but projects I am dangerous, a jinx, energy on purpose to try to scare the kid off. The kid see's through it and follows her. Sevika uses a vanderism. "we don't hand over our people. Sevikas arm was destroyed in her fight with vi. Silco couldn't do it himself anymore it got more painfull over time and he got used to having jinx do it. we see that in episode 7 when he tries to do it himself and he hesitates a bunch. "Watch it all burn", silco said "they can all burn" in episode 9 Viktor also saw the blueprints for the hextech weapons jayce built to kill his people. Jayce did what he thought was right but unfortunatly what we think is right isn't always right. I thought in this episode he made a mistake using the hexcore but we'll see. Ekko's one mistake as leader of the firelights. Not having a plan once silco died. despite being the ones who would try to kill him (presumably). Also the brambleback is a league monster. If im not mistaken chemical warfare is a war crime. Not that war crimes exist in runterra but the ethics concerns are presumibly the same. Vi is wearing an enforcer uniform, cait is there. And vi brought them to the place they used to hide from enforcers in. and also gassed her. We see where cait's headspace is here to. She's out for blood. Sevika is a gambler so jinx made an arm just for her. Interestingly enough Jinx already couldn't shoot vi before so what did she mean by "finishing whats left of my family". Who are the people in her family left to be finished. Now that Jayce decided to save viktor. Viktor is going to do everything he can to help the undercity. Also the little girl has a name but I find its important if you want to talk about her but its technically spoilers so youve been warned. Its Isha
Last Thing
2025-02-11 18:30:30 +0000 UTCSilco definitely got queasy about injecting his eye over the years. There's a scene in season 1 where he tries to do it himself because Jinx is gone, and he is really struggling. But then Jinx pops up and jabs him all over the face with it because he lied about Vi, if that helps you remember
Llama Lana
2025-02-11 18:27:59 +0000 UTCI personally think Jayce would never have destroyed the hex core, as it was the only hope he had of curing Viktor and he would've done anything to save him. Another interesting fact that isn't mentioned but worth thinking about is that when Jayce found Viktor lying in the rubbles of the council room after the explosion, Jayce carried him in his arms and ran all the way from there to the lab (which is a handfull of blocks away) without even knowing if he could save his life, he truly would've done anything if it meant that Viktor would live </3

2025-02-11 18:23:47 +0000 UTCI think it’s so funny that Stu immediately identified Loris as “vander 2.0” just like the rest of us. Vander 2.0, fish guy, and scottish girl, yup that’s Caitlyn’s strike force.
