Mr. Robot! The show first appealed to me as a tech and cybersecurity enthusiast in the first season, but the overall plot of the show shifted more towards mental health than I'd initially realized. It's a great watch!

karliah

I second the recommendations for Hannibal and Mr Robot. Lots of great content in both of those shows for you to comment on.

Gabrielle Chisholm

Hannibal (the show) would be great! It follows a criminal profiler who thinks "differently" about the cases and a psychiatrist "helps" ALSOO Interview with the Vampire (the show) has so much to talk about, power struggles, toxic love, being a VAMPIRE lol both have a lot of mental health topics :)

urgaybsf

I second this!

urgaybsf

yesss!

urgaybsf

Hill house is an excellent idea

C_Forde

I would recommend Band of Brothers, Chernobyl and The Mentalist!

Benjamin

Same!

Benjamin

Agreed! It's really good!

Benjamin

The Last of Us ✌️

Drabolik Lz

Or the trapped in a freezer scene. Honestly the restaurant would go a lot better if they put some of the restaurant budget into therapy.

Joe

Yeah I agree with The Bear, I would love to see Stus reaction to the Dinnertable scene

Ludo

Definitely thinking about Mr. Robot here. That show hit me like a truck back then

yo_boy_Wolfie

As others have mentioned, Movies are also a great idea potentially, you can get a lot of content out of an isolated 90-120 minutes.

Harris

I think your audience will properly guide you toward this type of content with polling, but, I'll list some examples in different slots. 20-30min Anime(Serious): Attack on Titan Death Note Neon Genesis Evangelion Cyberpunk Edgerunners Code Geass Stein's Gate 20-30min Anime(General): Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood One Punch Man Mob Psycho 100 General Animation: Avatar: The Last Airbender Invincible Pantheon Blue Eye Samurai Arcane Season 2 : ) 40-60min: The Sopranos Hannibal Dexter The Wire Breaking Bad The Leftovers True Detective I'm unsure about 20% of these in terms of modern day popularity, or viability for reaction content. A lot of these are just on the Mount Rushmore of shows people tend to always be willing to rewatch/seek out reactions for from what I've seen. You could do some analysis on how many views reactions get for these, how many people are reacting to this show, their imdb votes, current fandom subreddit activity, etc. My direct suggestion would be Cyberpunk Edgerunners since it's short, excellent, fairly character driven, and popular. Though I voted for Death Note in the poll. Would you expand on what you mean by "it running out of steam"?

Harris

Do you have any specific other shows with huge fan bases with more explore or and unique subject matter - that’s what I’m asking for. My concern is it’s going to run out of steam pretty quick if that’s the focus of every show as the reality is there will be far more similarities than differences. I’m also guessing though that that is what people want, instead of more general reactions that most other reactors seem to deliver who aren’t in specific roles like lawyers and doctors etc.

Lenny

‘Blade Runner 2049’ is a pretty good film. Themes of humanity and identity

Matt Sturgeon

I was going to say the same thing

Thomas Cheetham

The medium doesn't matter to me, I'd just prefer whichever media has content which'd be meaningfully explorable by you through the psychology lens. For instance, a while back the idea was mentioned of a Daredevil s3 reaction. Daredevil is a good show in general, but, there are dozens of other shows with huge fanbases with more explorable and unique subject matter, IMO. It seems like these shows would play to your strengths while also allowing for more channel growth.

Harris

Understandable. Dark or The Man in the High Castle may not be directly related to psy/mental health topics but I would say that the more complex the plot is the more thoughts you have to put in and then things can be seen through a psychological standpoint. Like why this character did this or that or what would people do in general if they were in that position. Now they are for sure more popular shows at the moment. Talking about Severance, coping with trauma, our relation to work/subordination/obedience, memory, identity are interesting topics. I won't elaborate more since it's "mysterious". But a psychological analysis would definitely be great !

Franck Seng

If you need a break from big series and just want a very good movie that is beautiful, trippy, funny and heart wrenching, Everything Everywhere All at Once is an incredible movie to check out. It deals with regret, love, depression, and family in a fascinating way. It's the sort of movie that's great for jumping into blind.

K Boo

Spinning out is very interesting

ZuzaaA

PLEASE watch good omens and the last of us, absolutely incredible

TaroGhostie

I'd suggest severance

TheKebabSeller

I think I’d enjoy seeing you watch Mr. Robot personally! Also really enjoyed your thoughts on episode one of Death Note and would love to see more of that, though it IS anime haha

Cherry

Shrinking ! silo, Sweetpea, severance , the bear ,

Carol Grein Ericson

Haunting of Hill house is actually phenomenal from a therapist perspective. I actually usually avoid scarier content but that show was not silly jumpscares, it actually had amazing character development and plot and intriguing story line and thats what sticks with you and you forget you're watching that genre!

Cyber

Oh I second the haunting of Hill house!

Cyber

Silo is interesting from a social behavior theory POV but I'm curious to see if you've done a breakdown of Loki seasons 1 and 2 or WandaVision (assuming you know anything about marvel, sorry I'm new here) from a therapist point of view.

Cyber

I think The Bear would have a lot to chew on from a therapy perspective. I also think Succession would be really interesting.

Joe

I am gonna saaay Interview with the Vampire! It plays on perspective a lot. The characters are very multi-dimensional too. A lot to talk about in every single episode.

nor

Also an Australian show called The Newsreader is really great for exploring mental health issues.

miranda

NBCs Hannibal is a great series, I think it would be interesting to see your thoughts on those characters.

miranda

I think the general reaction would be fun but I’m sure there some things you could analyse since Sherlock is a very bizarre character and you’ll never know what’s going on in his head and Watson got some kind of trauma from his time in the army. But your right there’s probably not as much as in arcane to analyse.

Otto Eulenburg

Keep hearing good things about severance too. I watched the first episode of man in the high castle - seemed good, not sure if there would be much to talk about from a psychology / mental health perspective. But maybe everything doesnt have to be about that and I can just enjoy reacting to a show - not sure if people would want to watch that though!

Lenny

My friends keep mentioning this to me that its really good. I really should check it out.

Lenny

True Detective season 1 would be very interesting indeed ! Many complex characters I'd like to understand more !

Sikan Kaosu

Sounds intriguing!

Lenny

Ive read some of the books but not seen any of the TV content. I think there might be a few - the Downey films, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jonny Lee Miller. I'm not sure if there would be much for me to specifically talk about from a psychology perspective? Or maybe more of a general reaction? Let me know!

Lenny

The OA, first season.

Jehan Sandra@sandrasalem

Severance is a must and currently the second season is airing. Dark, The Man in the High Castle are great shows.

Franck Seng

Ooooh! I think I got an awesome idea, what about True Detective season 1 ? (Just the season 1, 10 episodes)

Leo Rover

This probably doesn't count but there's this game called Before Your Eyes that's practically a movie with how little you actually "play" it—it's made to be played with only your eyes (uses eye tracking and blinking to simulate the passage of time) it's a beautiful game with such a powerful message about personal grief portrayed in a way that I've never seen before. I'm getting something from it tattooed I own the game out of support to the devs but I've never actually played it—I watched a no-commentary playthrough on YT and it served the same purpose so I think of it as a movie in my head

Arowyn

Haunting of Hill house

Patrick Dawson

Something that almost never gets attention but is (in my opinion) one the greatest shows: The Leftovers It is purely about how people react to unimaginable loss and cope with it over the years

Tomi

the last of us would be interesting

Nate

It would be great to see you react to Sherlock. It’s such a great show and it would be really interesting to see you react to this “high functioning sociopath”.

Otto Eulenburg

I think The Last of Us would be fun :)
