What have I just watched! Random episode of the day - Attack on Titan Season 1 Episode 1

Comments

Wow please continue! I’d love to watch it for the 5th time and it’s nice to hear your thoughts on the series

Gleb_Dawn

Thank you for your kind comments and insight there. From what I have watched so far AoT is certainly the most intriguing and something I could get my teeth into (pun not intended!). I am going to be putting some other first episodes out - these are mainly whilst I test some new software and kit which i dont want to risk on an actual Arcane, or requested video etc, hence the current influx of new episodes.

Lenny

Another thing about attack on titan, it has a god-tier soundtrack. As you continue through the show you will see multiple tracks that are freaking amazing. So many beautiful tracks go along with this show.

Christian F

With all of that being said, I do get the sense that I'm being kind of pushy with my comments. Like I'm telling you what direction to go in based on how I feel. But I'm a subscribing patreon so, I'm just telling you what I want as a subscriber lol. Even though this is just what I want from you, I still feel like this will be a beneficial path for you as well.

Christian F

At the end of the day though, it all comes down to whether or not you actually enjoy doing it. So I really hope you enjoyed this episode and I hope you can find other First episodes that you enjoy watching. I would love to stay subscribed to you and enjoy watching many shows, and hearing your thoughts about those shows as we go.

Christian F

There's another thing I wanted to say in the comments. I came to this channel solely for the Arcane reactions. And I planned on unsubscribing as soon as you were done reacting to Arcane. That's just the nature of things. You offer a very unique perspective on things as a therapist and I really enjoy hearing your thoughts on everything. I think there is a noticeable overlap between Arcane fans and anime fans in general. You're not going to get the same reception as you did with Arcane, but that's just because you have already built up your patreon through the YouTube arcane content, and you are still going to get a decently good reception from Attack on Titan fans and it will continue building over time. If you want to maintain patreons on your channel, I truly think you should continue this show. Purely from a business standpoint, I think this is going to be a show that you want to react to the entire series. You can do a few episodes a week and essentially maintain your patreon viewership for the better part of a year. And on top of that, I think you could find other anime that you enjoy reacting to and continue reacting forever essentially. And even if the reactions have nothing to do with your background as a therapist, you have a nice personality and I like watching shows with you. I think many people will feel that way. Fans love watching people react, and if you can give your thoughts as a therapist, that only adds to the reaction. The only people that I follow on patreon are anime reaction content creators lol. If you really want to make money and maintain membership on this channel, I recommend continuing the show and also finding maybe two or three other shows that you want to continue. And that can be the continuous cycle for you. Continue reacting to a small handful of shows forever. And when you're done with one show, you just find another to continue reacting to. I like your viewpoints, I like listening to your thoughts on things. You're a smart man. We all want to hear you. But we need a reason to listen to you, and sharing our reactions with these shows is the reason.

Christian F

This is one of my absolute favorites, would love to see more!

Squeaker Nelson

I really hope you decide to do this full series. The first episode is pretty straight forward, but as you go on there will be lots of information, world building, and mysteries to unravel. The plot is much more complex than it may appear from this episode.

Christian F

I mean later seasons would definitely be interesting to have your analysis

Randy R

agreeing with another comment posted here. i would also recommend banana fish because it offers such a deep and gut wrenching view on trauma and how it shapes its victims. the show discusses themes like power, control and abuse with realistic portrayals of mental health. It does discuss quite distressing topics so i’d look into the triggers before starting if you are interested. Loving the content (:

mari

I strongly recommend a look at banana fish's first episode next! its only 1 season compared to attack on titans 4 XD

TaroGhostie

The early episodes of this show are brilliantly brutal, can't wait to see which show you decide to check out next!

TaroGhostie

Seconding everyone here in saying that this would be amazing to get your reactions to the full series!

NinjaLantern53

I disagree, but that's okay. It was certainly a genre switch, and just simply not one I enjoyed.

Matthew

AoT is fantastic, It's a bit long, but it's probably the best contender poll-wise for the "20 minute serious animated show" category

Harris

Veteran reacts to *that one speech* and therapist reacts to *certain traumatic events* 'boutta go hard on Youtube lol. Jokes aside, this show would make for a great new long-term thing after Arcane and has a lot to digest in terms of psychology.

Maki

I'm not saying S3-4 is weaker than S1-2. I wrote that I think 3-4 is just as good, if not better than S1-2. So just the opposite) S4 - my love, especially the beginning

alex lavrenof

please continue reacting to attack on titan!!!! it’s such a masterclass in its thematics, and world building, and soundtrack, and just everything. and it is DEFINITELY an amazing show to watch through your particular lense.

Kayla Brunton

it's definitely not a definitely. s3 part 2 is arguably the best arc of the show. S4 is doing exactly what it's supposed to do (no spoilers) in terms of how you should be feeling about what is happening. it's not a joy ride high , it's a shameful post-nut clarity shame, followed with existential dread and realization of where everyone is headed in the grand scheme of the story line, and that's how it's INTENDED to be presented. I will say it took me a bit of an adjusting in S4 part 1 to get used to the animation style for a second.

Cyber

lol.. whoever told our therapist buddy that AoT is a RELAXING show is pulling his leg LOL... AoT is probably the LEAST relaxing anime to ever exist, in terms of constant stress. lol

Cyber

those who complain about hte second half of the season (internal season) are those who are only looking for a fight anime and not the intended audience of the show's intended story (iykyk), but if you're saying that S3-4 is weaker than S1-2 , or at least, what they're saying, i'd challenge that. it's just that the storylines finally merged for each character and people get caught off guard from the slow burn build up to the crescendo.

Cyber

Attack on Titan is arguably THE greatest work of fiction to ever be put into Manga/anime writing, and arguably, even competing with non-anime scope. (and before people grab pitchforks, im not saying hte other shows are bad, i love them too, i'm saying this show holds a special place in my heart in terms of best anime ever. It's THAT good and you would LOVE the ethical and character decision dilemma in the show. and i REALLY want to see a therapist reaction + analysis of the characters of the show AS THEY EVOLVE (similar to arcane, it's not a cookie cutter list of charactersthat stays the same throughout, instead they're ever evolving, with relationships changing and even ideals and morals changing based on the environment and situation, like Jinx's evolution in arcane but even moreso). PLEASE commit to it, and i strongly urge you that you watch the japanese sub version and enjoy some of the best voice acting in anime history, since the DUB sometimes does a poor job of just "saying words" instead of "emotionally portraying them" like the sub does.

Cyber

when i saw the email notif that you did the first ep of this series, i kind of lol'd because this show is just... well, it didn't hold any punches regarding traumatic experiences. especially the worldbuilding parts (mostly where it's animated by Studio Wit). the later seasons were animated by Studio Mappa and those were also traumatic, but it's more subtle. the initial seasons were so in-your-face. if you do end up doing this one, just a heads up that the protagonists are very involved in their military. i know you mentioned before that you were a veteran, so that might be a point of interest for you as well.

donglordthe3rd

I think Attack on Titan is one of the greatest works of all time! Opinions on the second half of the seasons vary, I think the second half is just as good, and in some ways even better than the beginning. Absolute cinema!

alex lavrenof

Absolutely love the reaction. I know you already talked about the dub vs sub situation but if you do decide to continue with the series I still highly recommend the sub version. The voice acting is top tier in this show and really elevates the emotions from the characters. Either way you choose, it's definitely a good watch. Excited for your next reaction!

Ryan L

well that looks cool

sarah pickles

Oh boy you are getting quite the spread. AoT is not a relaxing series, but it IS really good. It is also rather long but it is finished at least (94 episodes + 8 OVAs). There's a lot more to say about this show than something like MHA or OPM, good and bad, even if you push back the messaging behind the writing, there's still an intricately crafted world in here with set ups and smoking guns that are paid off 10-80 episodes later.

LegionaresCZ

Alas, my favorite anime in history. This one is a brain tickler for sure.

Luís

Yeah this one could be very interesting! It definitely fell off in the last seasons, but the first few are near masterpiece.

Matthew

Oh if you decide to watch this show (please do) pause and read all the eyecatchers around AD breaks please. Some assumed information is provided as well as important world building, and even at 1 point a key plot point.

Patrick Dawson

When I was trying to figure out what show after Arcane could be worth your expertise, I couldn't think of anything. But AoT though? Yes that would be interesting.

Leo Rover

This show will fit your niche also as therapy analysis.

Patrick Dawson

The mighty attack on titan which at its peak had a half season of near continuous 10/10 episodes, lots of music to analyse here also. A strong recommend, not perfect but certainly a masterpiece. Also the dub which starts quite rough actually gets very good in season 3.

Patrick Dawson

Okay this one might be the most exciting one of the recent anime series. LOVE Attack on Titan so much!!

Brandon Van Dzura

This really needs to be a full series

Nelson Vargas

I LOVE attack on titan!!!
