Jinx Singing
Added 2025-01-21 22:28:55 +0000 UTCJust having some fun here with a short video to see how it goes down! Yes the audio from episode 1 sounds a bit janky as I tried removing the battle explosions to try and hone in more to the voice.
I aim to do some more of these short videos from your comments. Let me know what you think of them. I'm quite tired so I hope what I am saying makes sense, or maybe this was just a completely random maverick idea to make a video like this. Anyways, off to bed!

I think this shorter form content is a fantastic way to engage in further discussions and quickly narrow in on details after the initial reactions! This back and forth prolonged engagement makes the experience as a viewer immensely interesting and exciting!

2025-01-23 01:22:25 +0000 UTCThe melody from that opening scene in ep1 itself, titled the bridge, is also used in the soundtrack frequently when jinx is going through something stressful. It’s playing while she’s having that confrontation with Silco about Vi while treating his eye in the last episode. Not as relevant for any clinical reasons as it’s in the soundtrack, not coming from the character but it’s another neat way the show manages to link all its moving parts together

2025-01-22 12:30:00 +0000 UTCInteresting things I have to note about the song "dear friend". The song is either so prevalent in the undercity that a 5 year old would sing it, or the song is one made up by powder herself in response to what she is experiencing. going with the prevalent theory I think its likely the song is being sung wrong. Evidenced by the way the song is structured ♪ Dear friend across the river ♪ ♪ My hands are cold and bare ♪ ♪ Dear friend across the river ♪ ♪ I'll take what you can spare ♪ ♪ I ask of you a penny ♪ ♪ My fortune it will be ♪ ♪ I ask you without envy ♪ ♪ We raise no mighty towers ♪ ♪ Our homes are built of stone ♪ ♪ So come across the river ♪ ♪ And find... ♪ it follows a simple structure but breaks some of its own rules for one the ryming scheme looks like this in the version that we get A B A B C D C (no D?) A E A E (song cuts off so its a presumption) I think this implys powders song is missing a line after "ask you without envy". Like it was forgotten or sung wrong due to the stress of the moment. It also leaves me wondering what the line could be. to me my guesses for the missing line would be "If you would set us free", and the end of the song "And find yourself alone". I've looked through the internet and there isn't a full version of the song anywhere that was made by the creators. only fan versions

2025-01-21 23:09:19 +0000 UTCI would say “Dear friend” wasn’t so innocent at the beginning. It’s essentially a song about an underground person being a beggar and asking for scraps from the topside. I think Jinx may be mocking the song or omitting the lyrics because of the changed power dynamic in there, she’s no longer that oppressed little girl, she’s the monster that hunts them down.

2025-01-21 22:58:22 +0000 UTCReally like this kind of short videos, it's a good idea!! I love that the song speaks about compassion, and “building bridges” and that we first hear it on a bridge where there’s nothing but death. The contrast is so painful, but it works perfectly as an introduction to the story. The lyrics encapsulate the core message of the entire story. It’s such a powerful and poignant way to set the tone.

2025-01-21 22:55:59 +0000 UTCWell I didnt really know the analytic part of shorts, but yes shorts can be quite random, it can be both super positive or super negative. I can't speak for everyone else and I don't know your experience with it, but I feel like with such specific content in that direction, the people that like it would also like your long form content while the rest would just keep scrolling. But I don't know how much such things affect the analytics and what impact that has on the recommendations. I also do know that shorts can be up to 3 minutes long now, but speaking from own experience, on shorts I would have probably scrolled away 10 seconds in since nothing much happened and shorts attention span is horrible, so if you try it I would cut it a little faster or go cut and forth or something like that so that there's more "action"

2025-01-21 22:47:29 +0000 UTCMy experience of Shorts on my other channel was that it had a massive negative impact. First of all Shorts shown on the shorts shelf don't count as public watch hours for the channel (only shorts shown through someone searching for them does). And Shorts viewers seem to have different viewing habits, so when I gained a load of subs from shorts before they didn't watch my long form content which made a massive dip in my analytics because if your subs don't watch then the video doesn't spread wider. Shorts can actually be up to 3 mins now - the update came in last month for me. I know in the reactors discord I'm in most people have had a similiar experience with the suggestion being to start a dedicated Shorts channel.

2025-01-21 22:39:05 +0000 UTCJust from a pure story telling point of view, the melody of dear friend across the river will come up a few more times. It is a musical motiff that develops some real depth of meaning through the characters it is associated with and what the song means to each of them (as it is both part of the soundtrack and diegetic so it gets to double dip on meaning) I will point it out when it returns in the future

2025-01-21 22:38:21 +0000 UTCI quite like the idea of such short videos, not necessarily for patreon but I think that would be a nice idea for youtube shorts - you just gotta turn it into portrait mode and maybe make it a little shorter and that should work great. Short scenes and coming straight to the point is pretty engaging. And via shorts more people might find your channel since its more likely to be recommended and Arcane fans usually stick around till the end of the video and look for more such content if they like it.
