I saw someone react to the enemy music video after season 2 episode 6, for more context on the characters... but the fans who told that person to watch it before s2e7 were quite diabolical

2025-01-15 03:32:43 +0000 UTCYeah it doesn't, everything is fine here! But this is the first music reaction of yours I watch, I do not know if you favor MVs when they exist, or if you always go for this format here. So just in case, I thought I would mention it, because I'm fairly certain if you're not reacting to the actual MV, you will get lots and lots of comments telling you to XD I wish I had more to say about the actual reaction I'm commenting on, but I feel like the rest of the comments pretty much covered it. I did really enjoy it though!

2025-01-13 23:10:15 +0000 UTCGood reaction! As an aside, for the Enemy song, when you get to it, I would suggest reacting to the music video instead of something like this. The music video was made by Fortiche (studio that animated Arcane) and features Arcane characters. Fairly certain a lot of the Arcane fanbase is looking forward to THAT reaction partly because of the video itself. Cheers!

2025-01-10 23:02:01 +0000 UTCI had the same perspective, but it's interesting to see how it can also apply to Powder. I saw letting her enemy down as a referring to letting Powder down; hinting at how, in a sense, they're now on opposing sides. It could also be a reference to the Enemy song, which I see as being from Jinx's perspective; “everybody wants to be my enemy”.

2025-01-10 22:50:40 +0000 UTCIt definitely has! There is a great video on YouTube about it by Cel-Shaded Music Theory if anyone are interested in that kind of stuff!

2025-01-10 22:23:47 +0000 UTCI interpret the song as being mostly Vi's point of view, partly because she's the one there when Vander's heartbeat goes out and she sees the tears in his eyes, partly because in the show while the song plays, the screen is showing her perspective, being dragged away and her vision turning hazy from whatever Marcus drugged her with. The "let you down" part I interpret as her failing to save Powder in that moment, maybe also hitting her and letting her believe Vi had abandoned her even though she was just around the corner. The "my enemy" does throw me though, it could indeed be related to other characters! As well as "where is my friend" - they are sisters not friends? If it meant Mylo and Claggor it would have been plural. So maybe like another commenter mentioned, different parts of the song are from different characters' perspectives.

2025-01-10 20:48:56 +0000 UTCAnother thought I had while listening with you and focusing on Powder’s perspective is that the ending sounds unresolved. If this was a typical track composed without context of the show I’d expect some sort of final “goodbye” sung at the end of a musical cadence and enunciated with finality. Instead it trails off, denying that closure. I think this fits well with Jinx’s reaction to thinking she saw Vi and her creation of the Mylo and Claggor dolls.

2025-01-10 19:56:19 +0000 UTCI’ve listened to this track many times as the Arcane soundtracks are regulars in my rotation; I still got chills listening with you in this reaction! Very cool to pair an in-depth listen so close to the episode viewing and before knowing the whole story! It is like you are right there with our characters at this point in time.

2025-01-10 19:55:39 +0000 UTCLove this. I’ve always listened and interpreted as mostly from Vi’s perspective given the opening lines, sometimes from Powder’s perspective depending on the day. It really does apply to all four, you’ve sold me. The closing scene of ep. 3 also really hammers the parallel between Vander/Silco and Vi/Powder, at least from Silco’s POV.

2025-01-10 19:49:21 +0000 UTCArcane is so well made that all the music on the show has been tailored to add more meaning and complexity to the show ! Is worth to take time and check out the lyrics.. I’m not a musician but pretty sure also the composition have a layer of meaning !

2025-01-10 18:12:55 +0000 UTCI feel that this song can be veiwed from 4 characters perspectives. Powder, Silco, Vi, and Vander. This is my first time looking at the lyrics like this so bear with me. ♪I can hear the sound of a heartbeat before it goes out.♪ VI was the only one physically there when Vanders heartbeat stops, but it could be about Vander realizing he's dying, or silco and powder realizing Vander is dead. ♪Won't ever leave my memory of bloodshed all around.♪ All the characters have a memory of bloodshed they have regrets about. ♪And I can see a tear on my father's face before it falls out♪ For Vi, and Powder its obvious but for Powder I wonder if she ever saw silco shed a tear over Vander. For Silco and Vander it may be more a symbolic, those that are dead are crying over what happened here. ♪Oh, my enemy, how could I have ever let you down?♪ Powder lets Vi down when she killed Mylo and Claggor. Vi lets Powder down when she hits her. Obviously Silco and Vander let the other down but I wonder. If you add one letter the line changes to how could I have ever let you drown? Which just feels deeper to me. ♪When all these trees saw us grow Cut our teeth and make our bones right here We'd play with shields made of stone Share our dreams and sit our thrones♪ Vander and silco grew up together too and they ended up sitting on their respective thrones of the undercity. Vi and Powder have a similar story. ♪Be still, 'cause I see smoke up ahead and I got steel in my hands♪ Vander and Silco's fight on the bridge surrounded by fire with "steel in hand". Powder with her Monkey bomb and the fire she causes. Vi with Vander gauntlets. ♪We will return like warriors, I swear, that we'll find glory up ahead♪ This forshadows Vi and Jinx in the future yes, but its also what silco was trying to get vander to do with him. "we have the power, we can finnaly realize our dream, brother" ♪Where is my home?♪ Silco loosing his home after Vanders betrayal. Powder having nowhere to return to. Vi being taken away. Vander becoming lost (to death). ♪I don't recognize the faces anymore, no♪ Vander looking at silcos scarred face. Silco realizing Vander "isn't that man anymore". Vi not knowing whats going on with Jinx. Jinx being haunted by distorted visions of the past. ♪Where is my friend? The one I've known since I was only just a kid♪ Vander and silco wonder on where the person they knew is. Vi and Powder are separated and can't find eachother. And then all of them say goodbye to eachother. I think I could draw more from the interpretations of the lyrics but that would require spoilers in the future, so ill leave it here for now.

Patrick Dawson
2025-01-10 17:15:02 +0000 UTCIn the beginning, when she made the choice - "I think it's time to say goodbye", she doesn't fully realize what she will lose. She is focused on a problem that made her decide, repeats her mantra, grounded in her choice. Then, she looks inside, asks herself "Is it time to say goodbye?". The mantra falters, and it hits her. Her emotions erupt, breaking through. I have never paid attention to this change, but the song is relatable to my experiences, when you have to make a move, knowing part of your identity won't come with you.
