Great song though, as is Rebel Heart (same artist) 🤩

2025-01-10 23:20:40 +0000 UTCThe character portrayed in Get Jinxed is very different to the Jinx we see in Arcane. Knowing more about the Jinx from the game & from that music video could be a (minor) spoiler, as it hints at the direction she is likely to go in through the show.
Matt Sturgeon
2025-01-10 23:06:31 +0000 UTCA good suggestion for a music reaction is “get jinxed - league of legends” (It’s one of the songs from this episode) good call back as it is an old song/cinematic from years ago No real spoilers in it as it wasn’t made for arcane as it was well before… but gives a good look at jinx’s mental..

2025-01-08 19:47:04 +0000 UTCAwesome 🙌 Love these videos so much, love the insights, the reactions, the connections being made.. Can’t wait for the next one, honestly the excitement and depth for the next episodes gets bigger with each episode.

2025-01-08 19:43:34 +0000 UTCIt's a tough one. I can see where you're coming from; that scene is certainly tough to watch... But sadly it isn't really all that _unusual_ for a child under a lot of stress to cry, scream, break things, like Powder does there. So I don't think we can really say this proves she had intrinsic issues.
Matt Sturgeon
2025-01-07 22:13:52 +0000 UTCYou received way to many emails during the recording. 😂 Anyway, lovely reaction again! 😁

2025-01-07 22:12:51 +0000 UTCLovely as always, thank you! Watching some of these scenes again make me reflect on different things and one thing that really got to me this time was the scene with councillors after the gemstone was stolen & how no one even considers asking for advice from the actual scientist from the undercity that is sitting right in front of them. Like, damn, the minority stress Viktor must have been feeling in that moment, being the only person from the undercity in the room and having the rest of them talk about people like him as dangerous "trenchers" & questioning whether "they" could possible be smart enough to figure out an invention he literally helped create.

2025-01-07 20:53:17 +0000 UTC@35:40 in the video (Or around) You ask if the visions Jinx has are Trauma-induced or serious mental illness like Schizophrenia. My analysis of the show has always been "Both". I know you have deep dived into Episode 3 and Powder a few times, but her reaction to Vi going to save Vander (leaving her behind) always felt to me an indication of wider issues.

2025-01-07 19:00:07 +0000 UTCAbsolutely! It would be cool to see along with a reaction to Arcane: Bridging the Rift!

2025-01-07 07:58:10 +0000 UTCWoo, the wait is over! I love your comment about how there are no true bad guys because everything makes sense from the individual perspectives. Looking forward to Ep. 5!

2025-01-07 05:11:13 +0000 UTCReally provocative lyrics too; I can see why you'd frame them from Jinx's perspective... “the kinda bad that makes you feel good” “the kida wrong that makes you feel right” “the little death that makes you feel alive” “the little shouldn't that means that you should” (Although I actually think it's about drug abuse and Shimmer running rampant throughout the undercity)
Matt Sturgeon
2025-01-07 02:35:02 +0000 UTCAgreed that "Dirty Little Animals" is a great track. It's interesting how the seen it plays over mirrors the "Playground" scene from Ep1; highlighting the massive contrast in The Lanes. Criminal that they cut it in the credits just before the drop!

2025-01-07 02:28:53 +0000 UTC“Also Silcos office is full of things jinx has painted on and given him. He displays them in there for anyone who makes deals with him to see like a proud papa.” This is a very important detail that somehow everyone misses, although it shows the depth of the relationship between Jinx and Silcos. I wanted to write about it myself, but I've already been beaten to it) Great job!

2025-01-07 02:10:22 +0000 UTCYou're right; I can see one detail that relates to S1E7... But it's the kinda detail that's insignificant unless you already know what it's referencing, so I don't think it's an issue. The rest of the book is very much in-between E3 & E4.
Matt Sturgeon
2025-01-07 00:33:03 +0000 UTCI looked again but can't find what spoiler you mean. Besides arcane got released in arcs of 3 episodes. And as far as i remember the diary got released after the first arc aired. So the animators that think of everything would have spoilerd arc 3? That doesn't seem right. If you have really found something please elaborate. Obviously for All that are reading this conversation. Massive possable spoiler warning ahead!

2025-01-06 22:52:55 +0000 UTCIt was “a game mode” on league so you could explore Jinx diary’s…. Was in the first season …

2025-01-06 22:48:09 +0000 UTCThere’s a few spoilers for S1E7 that i can see in there. I would wait personally

2025-01-06 22:37:25 +0000 UTCyou are correct that an age range was given. The writers confirmed that she is around 17-19 in ep 4 of season 1. I think most do assume it is 18.
Sezzy
2025-01-06 21:56:33 +0000 UTCshe’s anywhere from 16-18 there isn’t any formal age given

2025-01-06 21:48:31 +0000 UTCI can't recall seeing the diary, so just looked it up myself. To avoid accidental spoilers, here's a direct link: https://imgur.com/a/league-of-legends-council-archives-jinx-GbWEWyN

2025-01-06 21:04:13 +0000 UTCAlso, the same artist sang a song in S2; Rebel Heart by Djerv
Matt Sturgeon
2025-01-06 20:51:23 +0000 UTCI think there's something to be said that "Jinx" , when she was in PTSD mode while facing "Vi-lookalike" , saw the flashbacks of POWDER's trauma from the perspective of VI. Almost like Powder didn't have a personality of her own, or at least, as a child, her personality was defined by the perception of others see her. THAT's why she kept seeking validation, she lacked her own awareness to validate herself... And now in her flashbacks, JINX is seeing powder like a completely separate persona. It's not just a name change, it's almost like an identity change, like she buried powder deep down because the last thing that powder experienced before jinx was born, is the utter "you're a failure, you're A JINX" last words from Vi, who she looked up to and seeked validation.. only to be cemented and defined by those last traumatic words.

2025-01-06 20:30:25 +0000 UTCAgain great reaction. I know you said that you aren't researching different things as you are trying to avoid spoilers, which is good BUT the animators have released an official 'diary' of jinx, that gives further insight into her mental health issues that spans the time from episode 3 to episode 4. Searching for 'jinx diary' should suffice. It should lead you to 'The Council Archives/The Adventures of Jinx'. Nothing in there talks about what is to come in the following episodes, so you would be safe from Spoilers. The Reiter 'Voices' is where you will find the 3 Chapters or Pages of her diary, with a couple of entries and a drawing of her diary page. Taking the Diary into account would be a great help for the upcoming Formulation, I think.

2025-01-06 20:05:18 +0000 UTCI loved your reaction, especially your initial reaction to Jinx! There’s so much to unpack here, and I can’t wait for the discussions we’ll be having 💙 I adore Jinx and Silco’s relationship (it’s one of my favorite dynamics in the show), so I’m really excited to hear your thoughts on them. There’s also a lot to say about Jayce and Viktor in this act (and in this episode) but I’ll hold off until you’ve seen the next ones. That mug scene and Jayce’s decision to follow Heimerdinger’s suggestion are two fascinating moments that definitely deserve a deeper discussion, in my opinion.

2025-01-06 19:37:31 +0000 UTCGreat reaction a lot of people get confused when Jinx sees "Vi" on the airship and just assume its her. Some little details I want to mention about the episode and some thoughts Jinx has a lot of control over her explosives now, she's able to set them off in an enclosed space like the airship with no harm to herself. Also she knows the exact moment when they're going to explode showcased when she kicks the grenade off in her hideout. (side note I wonder if that scene could hint at potential suicidal ideation) Silco is pretty harsh with Sevika and defensive of Jinx, it must be painful to have joined silco and still have everyone (silco aside) consider her a problem. He's right that it was Sevika's job to guard the cargo though and that if she hadn't failed Jinx wouldn't have had to step in. Also Silcos office is full of things jinx has painted on and given him. He displays them in there for anyone who makes deals with him to see like a proud papa. Victor seems acceptant of his role with jayce the limelight isn't really his priority. Neither does it apear to be Jayce's. I imagine it still is somthing that may bother him already I think he deny's Jayce's inital ask for Victor to come up with him as a courtesy but hopes Jayce will pressure him into it. He seems dissapointed when he say's "you... Have your speach prepared?" (you were planning on doing this without me?) Either way it doesn't seem to bother him that much. Jinx remembered what silco said about "topside, leaving them further and further behind" because of hextech. So she makes a smart choice (if motivated by her anxietys about being considered "weak") to go and get hextech for him. If looked at from a certain veiwpoint what she did is, Infiltrate an enemy stronghold, Take out 6 enemy soldiers (enforcers are also piltovers military), steal the enemys greatest weapon, and get out without anyone knowing who did it. All without any Civilian casualtys (because it was late at night and everyone but the guards had gone home). Jayce didn't seem to get much of a say in whether or not he would become a counciler. It kind of just fell into his lap again like his status as "The Golden Boy". The song Jinx is listening to at the end is Get Jinxed. It was the song made for her reveal in the game (11 years ago) and is basically her theme song. Its one of the music reactions I'm most looking forward to. Its also I believe the first time Riot (the game company) worked with Fortiche (the studio that made arcane). Caitlyn mentions a "single mind behind all the undercitys Violence", I think it serves a dual purpose. One it tells us she's on Silcos trail. Two it shows us her naivety in thinking that all the violence comes from one source and not the undercitys innate inequality. Vi's tattoo Is both her name but also her cell block number is 51(VI)6(VI). I find it likely Marcus told the council that she blew up the building (true) and killed greyson when they went to retreive her (false). I find it unlikely the council gave her a trial like they did Jayce. The name of the big tatted character is unimportant but technically a minor spoiler. Most people miss the name in their reaction because its not really depicted as a reveal. Its in season 2 episode 5. If you really want to know its (Spoilers)(Spoilers)(Spoilers)(Spoilers)(Gustave)(Spoilers)(Spoilers)(Spoilers)(Jowler)(Spoilers)(Spoilers)(Spoilers).

2025-01-06 19:02:10 +0000 UTCI think it’s Heimerdinger talking in the beginning of the episode about the other scientist the understood the sacrifice of his life work for his students …

2025-01-06 19:00:19 +0000 UTCI enjoy watching your reactions so much!! Just a small thing that I thought I should add: Viktor has been using a cane since the first time he showed up in episode 2. He even talks about it with Jayce (when he stops Jayce from jumping off the building). The only difference is that now he's using a crutch instead of the cane and also wears a leg brace. I know it's not a big thing but I think it will be important if you ever decide to make a Viktor formulation.

2025-01-06 18:57:39 +0000 UTCThanks, trying to get in a flow of not stopping it literally every 2 mins and trying to let a scene play out a bit more, in case what I say or ask is answered about 5 seconds later.

2025-01-06 18:48:51 +0000 UTCan interesting touch is this toy in that counselor's hands, it's a children's puzzle that Mel gave him in the first season but even after so long he still hasn't resolved it yet, seeing it now it looks a lot like the situation they have in this episode, they have a problem in their hands (social inequality) that should have been solved but they didn't
Marcos
2025-01-06 18:46:25 +0000 UTCJinx/Powder is 18 here, so technically borderline could be a potential diagnosis. Love your breakdown of her trauma past/emerging mental illness here.

2025-01-06 18:32:24 +0000 UTCah interesting, to me it reminded me of Vander telling Silco that he "would sacrifice everything that we are" by going down that path.

2025-01-06 18:29:02 +0000 UTCGood spot on recognising that Heimerdinger spoke about Jayce's "Life's work". It's the phrase that Jayce explained either to him or Viktor (I'd have to go back and rewatch). Though considering that Heimerdinger told him to stop his pursuit of magic, the fact that he is using that same phrase, is not only hypocritical of him but also shows how much his perspective has shifted on Jayce's contributions. I don't think Heimerdinger knew or respected him in the jail cell, but that shows how Jayce's words only became important after he was able to prove himself to him.

2025-01-06 18:14:09 +0000 UTCHere we go starting a new act, By the way if your interested the song that jinx/powder is listening it's called get jinxed and it was released when they released jinx in the video game almost 12 years ago, really suggest to watch it at end of season one, Also loved your final comments described my thoughts perfectly
