Was I wrong about Jayce jumping?

(Reupload of yesterdays video to try and fix the audio volume changes).

I wanted to add, that you are not expected to nail every character. The beauty of sharing our views is that some people are going to identify with one character and will add more dimensionality because they can see themselves reflected in that avatar. These exchanges allow us all to learn more from each other and develop empathy and compassion even for some character’s that culturally are harder to accept. I wanted to add that in Arcane relationships come in pairs. Jayce and Victor are two approaches, ways of seeing the world, with a common dreaming. Jayce is all about emotion and being part of something, while Victor is pure mind and okay going on his own way for the pursuit of truth. They both balance each other. We need both.

Yeah I really like what you mentioned here. i didn't think of it at the time but it makes that scene even better!

Appreciate the re-approach, Hextech at this point is Jayce's God for all intents and purposes, he's entirely lost without the ability to pursue it. RE: Viktor: Am I interrupting? The small nitpick would be Viktor didn't say anything nice to Jayce before Viktor jokingly said Jayce was egotistical, so I don't think he ignored the nice for the bad in that case. He was just understandably unable to accept even a joking jab when it's hard to distinguish if it was really a joke, given how I'm sure he's feeling - maybe he was a bit egotistical and delusional in his pursuit, given the feedback he'd just gotten from every influence in his life. Luckily, Viktor defused things by finally giving Jayce his path back.

loved the deep dive - it wasn't too long at all. this is exactly the kind of content I signed up to patreon for.

It's so interesting to hear all your reactions. Rewatching this with you after seeing your psychological formulation videos, I can appreciate the character development even more than I already did. Absolutely nothing is done without intention in this show, it's really amazing!

And then Viktor gives him his bracelet, with the magic rune on it. Jayce had left it behind before going to jump and Viktor gives him his dream back.

Perfection!

Lovely little analysis of Jayces attempt, thank you! I really love how Viktor doesn't force Jayce to acknowledge his attempt or all the underlying reasons for it in this conversation - I also love that instead of asking Jayce to step away, he joins him at the edge. It makes for a scene that is quite different from those "talking someone off the ledge" scenes tend to go.

I think you were not completely wrong. But I won't comment why until you watch season 2 :) I saw a really good opinion about Jayce and I think it takes roots here. Also, I wanted to say that there is a thing in Hindu religion that is called "false identification" or something like that, it's a translation. They believe that a person is a soul, and a body is a "machine" that is needed to live on Earth. But the problem is people usually associate themselves with their body/occupation/role in life (like mother/father/good person/jokester or whatever). So when a person loses their "identification mark" - something important (like a job) they think that they don't have a purpose of life anymore. I think, you know this, but it might help somebody. (Or it just helps me that I've said it)

That’s the beauty of Arcane—you can watch it again and again, always uncovering new layers of meaning. Thank you for this video; it added even more depth to the episode and brought greater insight into Viktor and Jayce’s characters!
