Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K Texture Pack 1.4.1 Update

Happy new year everyone!

Today marks the release of yet another update to the Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K texture pack! It includes lots of new textures, covering both the UI, environment and more. Check out the full changelog down below!

This was posted in the previous updates' post as well, but as a reminder (or if this is your first time using the Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K texture pack), Here are the default key bindings for using the bottom screen with your controller;

You may need to set these bindings again on your own controller in case Citra does not recognize it automatically. Simply double click the input button for each respective button and press the corresponding button on your controller and you should be good to go!

This should make the game much more enjoyable, especially if you're playing on a TV where you definitely don't want to be switching around between different controllers mid-action.

Shadow Temple 4K overhaul!

The Shadow Temple has been upgraded with new 4K textures, and the blood present in the original N64 version has returned as well, just like in the Bottom of the Well last update.

New Hylian Shield texture!

The Hylian Shield texture has been remade properly in high definition, and looks substantially nicer!

4K Torches, Doors, Wooden boxes and more!

Lots of miscellaneous but rather important textures have been remade from scratch. This includes wooden torches you see scattered all over the game, primarily in dungeons. As well as wooden doors, wooden boxes, hay bales, rope bridges, certain fence posts, window blinders and more.

Further upgraded Hyrule Field!

Hyrule Field has been updated further with remade cobblestone wall textures, new shrubbery and flowers and more.

Kakariko Village has been upgraded too!

Kakariko Village has received new textures for several of the buildings, as well as remade stairs, new stone walls etc.

New title screen textures!

The title screen environments have received quite a few updated textures which mimic those seen in-game. It's the small things that helps it all come together!

And like before; Glorious 60 FPS!

Re-post from the previous update:

This is arguably an even greater upgrade available in Zelda: Ocarina of Time 4K than any of the textures. The 60 FPS patch is a first-time feature for Ocarina of Time 3D, and makes the game display in a buttery smooth 60 frames per second instead of the usual 30. This makes the game not just nicer to look at, but also makes it more responsive and reduces input lag. However, this feature is still in beta and has a few workarounds (you need to perform some special actions in certain instances to avoid the game from softlocking, for example. Instructions and more information is provided with the download!) Since the 60 FPS mode isn't quite ready for prime time yet, it's included as an optional special version which you can use if you're feeling adventurous (and don't mind doing a little bit of manual work!) The instructions are, like stated previously, included with the download. Have fun! :]

Selecting your game region (if you're using the PAL/European or Japanese version of the game);

All you need to do now, if you're using the European version of Ocarina of Time 3D, click the "Run this if you're using the PAL (European) version of the game.bat" file inside the texture pack folder. Done! It'll now work great with your version of the game. Easy, right?

How to enable MXAO (ambient occlusion) & DoF (Depth of Field):

This means you can now experience glorious self shadowing around objects, which looks really great with OOT's fantasy art style. Try it out by doing the following:

* Set your game view to "Single" in Citra.

* Set your resolution to 10x in the Graphics Settings in Citra.

* Press the "HOME" button on your keyboard, this will bring up the ReShade UI.

* Check the "MXAO" box in the list of effects.

* Go to the "Advanced" tab in ReShade and check the box next to the depth buffer in the list with the highest value (it should be a very high number while all others are 0). This number will change constantly, but don't worry it's supposed to do that!

* You're done. Have fun!

Enjoy!

There is a 4K version available, if your computer can handle it. It's a large file, over 7GB so beware of that before you download it! The 1080p version is smaller in file size, but doesn't look quite as nice. You can download both and test which one works best for you, if you want! :)

Please feel free to try it out!

(Only available for use with the Citra 3DS emulator, the texture pack does not work on real 3DS consoles).

You can find more information about my HD texture pack here.

Download it here!

I am only able to make things like this thanks to your support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do what I love!

❤️

Saludos Alfonso! Esta es una versión antigua del paquete de texturas y ya no es compatible, le recomiendo que descargue y juegue una de las versiones posteriores que se pueden encontrar cerca de la parte superior.

Creo que murió el enlace :/

Hi Garret! Unfortunately there is no workaround for issues like these yet, not until someone who is familiar with hex memory hacking figures out a way to fix it. Disabling the 60 FPS cheat by holding "D-Pad Down" will of course fix the issue temporarily, so that's what I would suggest doing when necessary for the time being.

Henriko Magnifico

I've noticed that with the 60FPS all the timers in the game are twice as fast including the bomb timers so they explode in half the time. Is there a workaround for that?

Thanks for the report! Try now please!

Download quota is maxed. Need a new link!

no problem i really appreciate the work you do and i understand it is a time consuming job. im so glad you made me revive my favourite child game like that, i cant complain

Hi Alexandre! Sadly this is the result of an issue in Citra where it does load textures asynchronously between rooms, resulting in the slight stutter you are experiencing. Hopefully Citra team will release a solution to this problem soon, but in the meanwhile the workaround is to A. Place the texture pack on your fastest hard drive, preferably a M.2 SSD and B. Playing the game for a while. The textures only need to be loaded once per session, and then the stuttering will more or less go away or at least be heavily reduced. I'm working on a version of the texture pack which should also hopefully stutter less by default due to some improved file compression, but it's not quite ready yet, so for now this is the best we've got. I'm sorry for this inconvenience!

Henriko Magnifico

hey friend is the slowdown between room have been fixed ? is citra going to set the best setting for my setup automatically ?

Thank you, i was able to fix it. I am currently loving it. Although i had to adjust the coordinates of each corresponding shortcuts. But after messing with it a little bit, it works perfectly.

Jack Craig

Hi Jack! Unfortunately Citra doesn't always remember the default bottom screen button bindings, so you may have to set them manually yourself. Luckily, it's quite simple to do! Just go into the Citra Controls Settings > "Motion / Touch..." button in the bottom left corner. Then click "Configure" and a window should appear with all the 7 default bottom screen button bindings that are set. Then you can simply double press the "Button" you want to change in the windows (such as "Hat 0 up", which is bound to the "First Person View" action in-game) and then the corresponding button on your own controller to bind that action to your own gamepad! I hope this explains the process relatively well. And of course, feel free to ask more questions if you have any! :)

Henriko Magnifico

I just downloaded and the game works perfectly, except for the shortcuts for the touchscreen buttons. Is there something I am missing? All the key bindings are correct but the functions dont work.

Jack Craig

Thanks for reporting the issue! It's now been fixed, try now!

Download page is not working!!

When you run the "Run this if you're using the Eurpean (PAL) version of the game.bat" file, does the script say anything when you run it? And are you running it inside of the 60 FPS patch folder, and not in the regular 30 FPS folder? The correct location of the script should be in the texture pack directory > "60 FPS PATCH (BETA)\OOT3D 4K 60 FPS Edition\IF YOU USE EUROPEAN (PAL) VERSION, RUN THIS\DOUBLE CLICK THIS to use the PAL (European) version, or textures won't load!.bat"

Henriko Magnifico

Thanks about the 60fps info. Link runs in normal speed. Yes i use the PAL Version and also did run the file, but the Textures still wont load up. i am a bit clueless here. hmmm

Hi Rocco! Are you playing the PAL (European) version of the game, by chance? If so, you must run the included .bat file called something along the lines of "Run this if you're using the European (PAL) version of the game.bat" included with the texture pack, or else textures won't load! The game speed is supposed to be 200%, since 60 FPS utilizes the extra speed set in Citra to achieve the 60 FPS by doubling the time it takes for animations and audio to play (although it runs twice as fast, resulting in buttery smooth 60 FPS!), so that's normal. But the game itself should run at normal speed when you're in game, does Link move 2x faster as well in-game?

Henriko Magnifico

Hey there, i cant get it working. I installed everything as you instructed and i see a change in colours, so SOMETHING must have changed, but not the textures. also when i do the 60fps, it just runs in 200% speed to achieve the 60fps. can you help me out here?

Please I wanna record the intro in hd of this zelda but without logo and text.... ¿How can i?

Hi! Try moving the texture pack to your desktop and start the game from there and see if that fixes the issue!

Henriko Magnifico

Hi Henriko! Every time I boot the game, It always throws the error "A Fatal Error Occurred". This happens on both the 4K and 1080p texture packs. Is there any setting I should change? Many thanks!

Love the addition of the d-pad hotkeys, awesome work right there!! <3

is there somewhere i can see how to install? i cant find

DarkBeast

Hi Fernando! Thank you for your kind words. Yes I'm aware of the scabbard not yet being in HD, it's something I will definitely add in a future update!

Henriko Magnifico

Hi Henriko, happy new year 2022, what a great way to start the year with another excellent update on Zelda Ocarina del Tiempo. One detail that I always see is missing is the textures of the scabbard where the link sword is kept, both in adult and child link, they are with low resolution. Greetings.
