2025-02-12 20:36:09 +0000 UTCFun fact: As far as I've heard, the Ashari race was made by Matt Mercer (the DM) because Marisha Ray (Keyleth) wanted to play something like an avatar from ATLA, so it was very much designed with that as primary inspiration. That, combined with the elemental forms from Circle of the Moon druid subclass, and Keyleth is essentially an avatar.

2025-02-09 02:27:31 +0000 UTCI mean that's certainly a part of why her flames are blue, but it WAS also to show her power level. Having blue flames (the hottest of fire) shows to the audience that not only is Azula set apart from other firebenders, but she's on a totally different level to them power-wise. It also reflecting her personality is also part of what makes it cool, but both reasons can and do coexist. So you 'correcting' Elija here is kind of redundant and unnecessary. (Also, Elija does in fact play Dnd. I would've also assumed Kima was a dwarf based on her aesthetics. )

2025-02-08 22:22:15 +0000 UTCI do understand the urge to skip past credits & title sequences - for the latter, I don't mind so much, because how often you stick through opening titles is a good litmus test for how rad they are. Look at her Ducktales reactions; never skips through those, cause the song is a banger. (I'm looking forward to how she reacts to next season of LoVM and future RWBY volumes for that reason) BUT, I would love for her to stick through the end credits more, partly cause the art is very pretty, but also there's sometimes musical extensions that feel like poignant closers to the episodes. I'd say episode 7, and particularly episode 2 of Season 3, are big cases where I hope she sticks through the credits for the music. But yeah, knew she'd love this one. It's big on Keyleth Avatar vibes, and just a blast overall.

2025-02-08 15:20:48 +0000 UTCFew things about this episode that I want to know. One: Kima is not a Dwarf, she is a Halfling but I donβt expect a non- D&D player to know that. And Two: Azulaβs Flames are blue because she is cold-Hearted, Brutal and emotionless. Firebending is all about emotion. You can notice the difference in Zukoβs bending: At the start he is Hot-Headed and angry so his flames are redder and all over the place. And at the end when he changes he is calmer and in touch with his emotions which makes his Fire more orange and have more deliberate movements.

Fun fact it wasn't intentional, but Matt realized that Allura is kind of his self insert character while Marisha, his wife/girlfriend at the time/keyleth's player/voice actor, is a good fit for kima as a spunky redhead

2025-02-08 13:32:21 +0000 UTCIf I had a nickel for every time that Stephanie Beatriz played a short, hot-tempered lesbian warrior in love with a taller, blonde, bisexual woman with magic - I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot! But it's amazing it's happened twice now. Kimallura (Kima and Allura's ship name) have a whole arc together in the original campaign, but due to time constraints the animated show changed it so they're an established couple A note about Keyleth's in-game mechanics: she's a Circle of the Moon druid which allows her to transform into 'elementals' (creatures that embody a certain element). What we see in this episode was Keyleth unlocking her fire elemental form!
