Partially disagree. Yes, Ruby was treating the role of leader far too casually for the final school before off to real life and not giving attention to classes outside of her interests. That being said, Ruby did know how to fight Grimm (and probably weapon tech) very well. She told Weiss the weak point on the Borbatusk and Weiss did win by hitting there.

Episode 8 is the episode where pretty much everyone becomes addicted to RWBY. But I'm so glad that you love it so much already!! I think I can speak for the whole RWBY fandom when I say we would absolutely love to see you cosplay Blake!! As for the argument between Weiss and Ruby, I think Ruby was being childish and immature, she was goofing off in class when she was supposed to be paying attention. Ruby treated her role as leader like it's a joke or a toy, she wasn't taking the responsibility seriously. When Weiss was fighting the boar Grimm, she wanted to do it her own way and Ruby was just getting in the way.

I've never noticed the whole eye color thing with the different pairings it honestly makes sense and I thank you sharing your discovery with us. Nice catch on the eye/design matching. You're mostly right, though there is some fandom (or FNDM) bias on matches/pairings. Out of curiosity, do you think you will/would react to the soundtrack (vocal songs at least) on a by volume basis? The full versions of the songs have a tendency to slightly spoil some background bits so it's not advised to do them before a volume concludes. A YT content creator FlyntofRWBY made lyric videos of each of them up to volume 7, volume 8 and 9 have some but by that point he was pulling back from it.

Yeah, RWBY has a way of sticking to you. Also I chuckled at your humored "it's so unserious!" because absolutely but also so, so much more. I appreciate that you got distracted by Blake and Yang and sorta missed the little moment of Ruby standing all leader-like on the rock which was what Yang was focused on in that moment. "I get attached easily and quickly." I know this from watching many of your reactions in the past and I am so excited for how you're gonna experience the many stories of RWBY in the future because of this.

Also, Professor Port is based on Peter (from Peter and the Wolf), all grown up and with a Most Magnificent Moustache (TM). If you listen to the snippets we get of the story he's telling in class, he is indeed telling a Remnant-appropriate version of Prokofiev's tale.

Also, I would love to see you react to the soundtrack for each volume after the end of the Volume, its always my favorite part of new rwby reactors! Even if you don't react to it you should definitely still listen to it as the songs give a lot of insight into how characters are thinking and feeling

Ruby's eyes are silver, specifically; Ozpin, if you will recall, commented on this as soon as he met her in ep. 1. Blake, meanwhile, was at one point intended to have heterochromia, and while this idea was clearly abandoned, some concept art of it still exists, I believe.

Red Like Roses pt 2 is one of the best rwby soundtrack songs to this day imo and the lyrics really expand on Ruby’s character. Weiss is right Ruby IS still very childish these first few episodes in particular but then you go and take a look at the lyrics to rlr2 and it’s like oh. Oooh. There’s so much more going on here

You are definitely right about color being super important in terms of symbolism in RWBY. Each member of Team RWBY has a little color on them representative of their assigned partner and even their other teammates! (Ruby has white crosses and the black outfit, as you mentioned Weiss has the red on her collar but also a splash of black, Blake has the yellow in her eyes and white to go with the black in her outfit, whereas Yang has purple eyes, and a bandana wrapped around her leg that is also purple). I won't say too much about why, but you are definitely right! Color has a lot of different meanings in this show and is super important. Weiss Schnee = white snow in german Yang Xiao Long = sunny little dragon or yellow little dragon Blake Belladonna = old english for black and belladonna (also known as the deadly nightshade) is a dark purple plant/flower Looking forward to seeing you watch the rest of the show! Weiss definitely grows the most this volume, but I look forward to seeing how you'll react to everyone else's future development as well! (also, I'm with you, Blake Belladonna had a grip on me pretty hard early on as well!)
