Something important to keep in mind is the creators intended for there to be 8-10 seasons, and the show got canceled at season 4. They left a LOT of questions, but they have said they are opening to continuing if the show gets picked up again

Season 4 is actually almost entirely disconnected from the past seasons being a prequel of sorts that has only minimal overlap with Amelia's story.
