It’s possible it’s just animation shorthand to make the brief clips flow better but an in universe explanation is likely a combination of the facts that Luz is pretty young and under a lot of stress as well as having ADHD (though it’s uncertain if she was decided to have ADHD at this point in the story) so those could all be muddling his memories/perception of the events.
