The Goonies is one of my comfort movies, I never get tired of watching it. The movie is very nostalgic and makes the kid in me beam. It influenced sooo many movies and shows afterwards and you can see why. One day we will get a sequel, I know all the old cast want to revisit, Spielberg is interested, a passing of the torch would be nice. I do agree action adventure like this and indy are few and far between, but on occasion we do get winners, like Stranger Things and It.

He had grown up not far from where I lived (Milwaukee) and had a mutual friend with my parents. Goonies was already one of my favorite movies at that point so I was pretty excited even though he was unrecognizable. Sadly he died like a year or two later.
