X-Men First Class was supposed to be a full on reboot of the X-Men franchise, which is why when you see "plot holes," its actually the fact that it never took into consideration anything that happened in the original trilogy. It was never meant to be a prequel, but the start of a new trilogy. They couldn't help it though once they saw the success of First Class, they decided to back pedal. The story became a huge mess after that, they tried to merge the past with the present. More and more redconning, plot holes and inconsistencies kept happening. It unfortunately was partially the reason it became so bad, aside from the last 2 Wolverine story, well The Wolverine was alright. Logan was a masterpiece.
