The mentioning of Joey in jail is a call back to the first movie when he didn't get parole. Marty could not do something about getting the book in the garage because young Biff hadn't fully received the book yet. They had to let that part pay out so old Biff would return the time machine to the future. 2nd half of the movie ties into the first movie so well. Shame nobody told you about the spoilers for part 3 at the end of this.

However what you said about political correctness on that 2015 scene, don't you know that's exactly what's ruining movies TV shows and animated cartoons/series these days? That crap should NOT even exist right now!
