It helps not missing important dialogue and also like in this case, you would be able to follow the conversation if they use other languages. When ever they spoke in the native language here they actually have subs to show the dialogue.

2022-11-14 22:05:48 +0000 UTCSo, since so many people hate the prequels, I skipped ahead to make sure you liked it. I'm watching it shortly. But Qui-Gon's name? The first syllable, Qui, is pronounced like "quiet" without the "et." Second syllable, Gon, is pronounced like, "Gone" as in gone bye-bye. Last syllable is pronounced "Gin," as in the alcoholic beverage. Qu..Gon...Gin. The movie is called The Phantom Menance because they're trying to figure out who the dude with the red face is. They don't figure out his name, and we don't know it until far into the film, when Palpatine calls him Darth Mal.
