Who’s the proudest member of the queer kaiju community? Obviously it’s Barugon, Gamera’s first foe from 1966’s aptly named “Gamera vs. Barugon”. This queen stuns with her radiant rainbow beam projected from her dorsal spikes. This has been my first non-Toho kaiju… Daiei was certainly no slacker in this department. Daimajin is one of my all time favorites (okay I did do a painting of this one, so saying Barugon and s the first is not really true) and their Yokai series is great as well (I usually have a Daimajin or Yokai Monsters: 100 Monsters among my top 4 on letterboxd). Not to mention their Jidaigeki horror films… tons of great period ghost stories.

I’m definitely doing the “be gay do crimes” one, but t I can do a 2 design split like I did with Piggsy. Vote for your preference in the comments below!
